Baseball Around the SEC Week 2 (2/23 - 3/2/23)

Missouri had a 4 game series? Never seen that before.

 

you get a few every year. Usually small & or northern teams wanting to get their long trips worth ..lol UGa -Princeton. was also 4.

Speaking of Princeton,, the Ivy I believe(or similar size conf) use to have 4 game conf. series. Doesnt appear they still do.. I kind of like it for conf play.

Are there any other FR in league this year.. Ike is 2/2.. at what point do they drop the FR part?? could/should of this week

 

Given the lack of good pitching in college I would think a 4 game series would be really pushing it. I can see northern teams wanting to come south for some games in Feb tho.

 

yeah, true. It works for the small conferences(size wise) But probably to much for the 14+ teams confrences now. Unless you went 4 for division games only, but I guess no divisions much longer. you would get rid of the mid weeks if went 4.. Every game matters once conf play starts,, i like that aspect of it.

I saw SC(east) was ranked by D1 this week.. I asked them what impressed them more, the three 1 run wins over Penn or the mid week win vs Queens(not the Mets)...they didnt respond. Shocker

 

LSU @ Texas on LHN tonight 730

Noticed CJJ has moved Morgan to the OF.. Also heard he ate a wall Fri. night and missed the Sat game they lost to Iowa.

LSU has been in Texas for a full week. Class optional in Red Stick apparently

 

Cowbells next to last . Way early, but that won't play well in Starkville if it holds up after last year's disappointment.

 

They don't seem to be the same team that they were last year or the year before... so far this season.

 

Look pretty similar to last year to me .. so far anyway.

 

Yeah, two years ago seems so far away for the cow-bells clan...

But last year's Ole Miss won it all and they seem to be doing okay, so far.

 

Rebs werent any good last year either,,just got hot.. If they go to Miami and lose like a 3 seed is expected too, good chance CMB wouldnt be HC right now

Or if Bama who swept them gets the last bid instead..lol

 

So... they got lucky, and hot, to win the College Baseball World Series? Okay...

 

You can say that Ole Miss got lucky or hot at the right time, but they were picked pretty highly in the preseason. That team always had talent, just under achieved in the regular season. No clue on what has happened to the cowbells tho.

Bama didnt deserve to make the tourney anyway.

 

If Bama didnt OM surely didnt. Agree on talent part, but reg season is your resume.. Underachieving is their problem. OM baseball name carries bigger weight w/ media than Bama(for now) Only reason IMO.

,.. rarely if ever has best team during year won the tourney in Omaha(Canes 01 maybe).. Where I differ than most, maybe all, on personal level,, Id rather be Vols last year than Rebs. Best team overall, just not the last month.

Rebs were last in for a reason

They also got a nice opening draw in CWS.. Org St beats them 9/10 w/ their ace last year IMO.. But they choked at home in Supers. OSU still my #2 last year. behind Vols lol

 

Some of that is scheduling and who we/they got before the World Series... Oklahoma was a tough out for us, and we were actually playing pretty well up until that series with them.

I didn't see Ole Miss' schedule.

 

Since the Rebs are NC, I'll take the Rebs season. Ole Miss has actually had a few seasons like the Vols in the past where they choked away a great season in the regional. The entire season counts not just the first part. Vol players under Vitello act like a bunch of jackasses anyway. Happy to see them crash and burn.

As for Bama, nobody deserves to make the post season going 12-17 in conference and barely over .500 overall.
