Short relief guys run on adrenaline not mechanics—usually good for 17-25 pitches before the adrenaline rush wears off—

On Matt Allan, the Mets probably did not offer slot money to previous picks. This is what I was talking about previously with how sleazy this draft can be. They had Allan's number but took other guys they knew they could bargain down from slot value to "save" money. Meanwhile they tell a player to put out a crazy number or say that he wants to go to school. It is a shady business model to say the least, but it does happen.

On the HS vs College Player. A pro team can watch a HS player and still not be more than 50% sure they will turn into the player they think they will become. Before you start killing me, yes there are some exceptions, but most scouts and agents will tell you they are only 50% sure of what a player will project into. Think about it this way. You are a scout and as industry standard you are on a one year contract. This is very typical and why you see nobody scouting HS Jr's. You go and watch a HS senior. What competition is the kid playing? How many games do you get to see him? Long and short that even with travel and showcases scouts will only get a limited sample of a player and it is only as good as the competition level they are playing. Now take a college kid who you were able to watch in his senior year of high school (Crisp and Fabian excluded :)) and if he goes to a 4 year school you get at least 3 years to watch a kid play at a high level. Now you are 75% sure or more of what you are getting. That is why you are seeing more money go to college players.

And I would tell you that percentage of surety is higher when you get to see guys playing in the SEC year in and year out. Day 1 the SEC doubled up any other conference for players selected.

Still no Lang? That would have to bode well for him coming back one would think. But he might just be ready to move on.

So is Nelly gonna give pro baseball a go?

I know nothing, but I figured between his arm issues and not getting picked at all last year he might have told teams he's gonna do something else with his life.

Mets took a flyer on Hunter Barco, Round 24 #718.

Did they just pull up a list of our commits and take it from there?
By the way, I'm entering all the drafts onto Post #1.

If for some reason they can’t get Allan, throw a bunch of money at Barco. Be happy with 1 of 2.

I hope that they go 0-fer for us, but not wishing badly for Allan. If he gets his $'s he should go. It just shows that commuting to the Gators is a wise move.

So the expectation at this point is UF gets everyone on this list except Greene and Allan? Including the #9 prep player per Perfect Game.

Does a recruiting class of 9 top 100 prep kids (with 4 in the top 15) usually get 7 to campus?

I guess Langworthy wasn't drafted at all. Have to assume he made clear to teams in the later rounds of the draft that he was coming back - he's not really a "projectable" player, but there aren't 1,200 amateur baseball players better than him.

Glad Lang will be back. Really hope he has a magical senior year and ends up improving his draft stock. Have to assume he'll be a team captain next year.
