I'm not sure how they will pull it off. They've got a little over 8 million in pool money. The slot value for their 1st round pick is 4.37, and they took a highly rated HS kid with plenty of leverage. Slot value for their 2nd round pick is 1.37. Again, they took a HS kid in the area where he was projected. If they give Allen 4, I don't see how they convince those other 2 to sign for 4 between the two of them. If so, those guys have horrible agents.

Here's the strategy from Kiley McDaniel, who spent a few years in the Braves' front office:

They have drafted two Srs in a row. Looks accurate.

I guess its clear now that Sproat was selected in the 7th before Barco who is still waiting. That would mean look for Barco, Owens, maybe Sproat and the rest of our signees to be Gators. Right, except for those selected in the first 3 rounds.

Dalton and Lang are still questions. If they go before the 11th, I would guess they leave. After, no clue.

Doubt very seriously that Sproat ends up at UF. I’m sure he had positive discussions with Texas on what it would take to sign and that is why he was selected in that spot. Negotiations in the MLB Draft start before a player is selected, especially over the first two days.

Again you have to remember each year that only a small handful of kids (usually around 5-8) picked among the first 10 rounds end up not signing.

There are quite a few MLB players who were taken in the 8th round—with good health, good fortune, and the right eyes watching, there is nothing wrong with Wil’s chances at this point. If he wants to sign, I wish him the best!

Wil has taken the hard road so far through CC and then college ball.

He is fast, has a very good outfield arm, always knows where to throw the ball when he gets it, and has really quick hands swinging the bat.

He is getting better about not trying to pull everything.

I think that he makes it to The Show and 8th round may be a steal.

It's kind of a downer to go from "We're getting Allan and Barco!" to "Allan is probably signing with the Mets," but it's easy to forget how big a deal it is getting Barco on campus. That's a big win for us.

Curious to see where Langworthy goes. I don't imagine he's someone who projects super-well at the professional level, but he undeniably has some bat skills. But if he comes back I can predict he'll have a breakout season for, like, the 83rd consecutive season.

Lang is a player that from day one seeing him as a Gator I said "This guys knows how to play".

I wonder if the MLB scouts have picked that up given his less than stellar early seasons the last two years.

I might be crazy, but watching the names scroll by today I think there are a LOT more college guys getting picked in the first 10 rounds then usual. Seems to me in past years that the mix was a lot more even between college and HS. This year there are fewer HS guys getting picked so far.
