My wife listens to the games when we go to the Mac. We sit in the first row right behind home plate. She often tells me that I am wrong about what pitch was thrown because the guy on the radio that can't see it as well as I can disagreed with me. I literally have the best seat in the house to see the pitches. @wingtee will vouch for that.

Announcers can screw things up royally. Ben Mc really screwed one up today when a pitchout was called and the pitch was way too close to the plate. He said some jibberish about wanting a high fast ball and that was why that catcher was standing up when he caught it. LOL. C'mon.

Things are looking much better for us with Allan. While the Mets seemed to be following this strategy (Rounds 5-10 signed for 42K and #1 signed for 3.9 mil), their 2nd rounder blew things up. Reports are that he has signed for 2.15, 800K OVER slot. This leaves them with around 2.5 million to sign Allan. He could have made more than that by just playing it straight and allowing a team to take him high in the 1st, where he was rated all along. Unless he's having serious regrets about his decision, then I can't imagine him taking that amount. But, you never know - $$$ can make people change their minds.

Looks like only around 2.1M if all those numbers are correct.

Great, it's settled then. That leaves no money for Allan.

    Go GATORS!

I realize I come from a blessed upbringing but still rather middle class, $2.1M even after taxes and agent fees is a ton of money.

That said, if he gets drafted top 10 in 2022, he could get $4-6M. That could be a value generation of almost $1M/year to come to campus.

Of course if he doesn’t get drafted in the first 2 rounds, he will cost himself money.

No arguing that point with me! The "only" part was just in reference to the original numbers being discussed.

    Wow!

This is major news for us. Brandon was in the low 90s at a spindly 6-2 165. Who knows where he will be at with some physical development.

Saw a story earlier where he was 4-0 with 32 strikeouts in 16 innings.

    Bad news: Mets signed Allan.

They had a little more than $2.5 million available for him, so apparently the pre-draft chatter about his bonus demands were way high.

Sproat seems like a pretty big get, too.

Allan was always a longshot, we just got our hopes up when no one took him on the first day. This doesn't feel nearly as disappointing if Allan is drafted 15th overall, I imagine.
