not as HC anyways Wish AU had a open spot for JJ.. pitching coach Shoenrock was all but gone mid season,,but then cut team ERA in half rest of way, so assume hes staying.
back to Vaughn at Bama...zero sec/s-east ties that I can tell. good luck. Maybe he will raid B10 in portal
Solid track record just not sure on recruiting.. They are already 2nd fiddle in state in that dept. But w/ portal now , maybe not as big an issue as before. Guessing J J will get HC offer somewhere. Keeping him on staff would help. Assuming Bama lets him stay(lawsuit thing)
It would be wise to keep him on staff. He's done a great job recruiting and coaching for that matter. Still can't figure out why Dan McDonnell wasn't hired by Ga or Bama
Bama's put a lot of money in their program. However, the Pell Grant situation puts them in a tough position vs other states. Georgia continues to amaze me on not going all in on a Head Coach. Foley Field is still a dump. Haha
I don’t understand why/how UGA doesn’t recruit heavily in that hotbed of baseball talent known as East Cobb Baseball and all the other talent in the greater Atlanta area.
Certainly a valid issue for 25 years in the state, but w/ NIL now they should at least be able to cover a full "scholarship" per player.. Similar to what 'little brother" is doing.
When I think "Georgia" and "baseball" my first thought is Ty Cobb and he didn't play college ball. IIRC he grew up in the far northeast of the state. Jackie Robinson was from a tiny town named Cairo just north of Tally. In my younger days I rode the a back to back 100 mile ride from Tally to Albany, GA and it always went through Cairo. I think he played college ball at UCLA. Frank Thomas was a Barner born near the Alabama border in Columbus. Some HOF players here but none went to UGA. And none anywhere near Atlanta.
