The Gerrymandered districting ensures minority rule. People like him fill towns in s-hole areas; places where reality is that immigrants are bad, the go governor should be a Christian government on their image if the religion; all immigrants are bad: where the ideal leader is Victor Orban; where disenfranchisement of voters is a good thing: where they don’t like to be like the big cities that whose taxes they depend on; where laws limiting free speech that don’t like are a good thing; where respect for others is evil “wokeness”; where teaching about slavery and racism is illegal; and in and on it goes. We are living in the equivalent of Weimar Germany now where 30% rule is taking over the country. Where mainstream conservatism is represented by Victor Orban. Vote GOP and that is what you get. But, eventually they come for you (figurative you). You just don’t think so when you let them take power. You think it is great because they espouse what you believe. Until you find out they are like Trump. They believe in nothing but themselves and their power and you were a tool. So, Dad Andy ET and all the others can cheer the dishonest usurpation of democracy. They are still needed for now.

Did that praying man say to cast Brandon into hell? Cause that's what it sounded like.

I remember a couple posters used to commonly go to “liberalism is a mental disorder” when they got upset about something, or responded to some “out there” story posted on looney tunes sites (chain emails, Breitbart, Drudge or wherever).

Looking at images of some of these “conservative” conventions and I have to lol. This isn’t the fringe, this is the mainstream. The Republican Party is a full blown insanity cult now.

MTG expressing her belief a d values that she is a Christian Nationalist is reminiscent a dark, evil time of world history.

People at a “Pro-America” rally wearing Nazi emblems and regalia at a packed Madison Square Gardens passionately listening to someone tell them that this country needs to be a nation of Christian Nationalists free from “Jewish domination”. I keep trying to convince myself it can’t happen here but political leaders and current events keep convincing me how wrong that thought is.

The past is not dead. It’s not even past.

Trump easily wins Texas CPAC 2024 GOP presidential nomination straw poll; DeSantis second

DALLAS – Former President Donald Trump convincingly won the 2024 GOP presidential nomination straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) three-day gathering in Texas

Trump, who’s repeatedly teased making another presidential run in 2024 to try and return to the White House, captured 69% of ballots cast in the anonymous online straw poll, according to results announced by CPAC on Saturday.

The support for the former president, who remains the most popular and influential politician in the Republican Party and continues to play a kingmaker's role in GOP primaries, is up from his 59% showing in the anonymous online straw poll at the CPAC gathering in Orlando, Florida in February.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came in second on the 2024 presidential nomination question, at 24%, down from his 28% showing at CPAC in Orlando five months ago.

Last statement is true. We've barely evolved from that point nearly a century ago.

This view is actually more popular in the world than the culture mixing view of the west. China, India, Africa, and many other places feel this way.

Not saying it's right or wrong just pointing out the west's views here are and always have been the minority view worldwide. People who hold this view should really be concerned with the west's military dominance as tge closer China/Russia and pals get to parity the less popular it will be.

I tend to buy Tom Nichols' argument that this is a result of boredom and relative affluence. I think a significant number of boomers are searching for meaning in their life (led to the cultural concern over things like mid-life crises like 15-20 years ago). A lot of those same folks are retiring now. They had good enough careers that they got their big house in the distant burbs, the boat, the RV, etc. But their careers didn't necessarily provide meaning. Often, some strained family relationships. And they are now in a constant search for meaning and entertainment from the world.

Then, they found facebook and youtube and got introduced to conspiracies. And now instead of their political beliefs being about the proper role of government in certain markets or marginal tax rates, politics became about secret pedophile rings in pizza restaurants or globalists trying to put chips in everybody to track them or whatever the pillow guy is saying today or, in this case, the gestapo arresting good patriots for the non-existent crimes of January 6 (it was antifa). Frankly, all of that is a heck of a lot more meaningful and interesting than marginal tax rates.
