Dozens of exotic animals up for sale from estate of Marvin Hajos
The cassowary that killed an Alachua County man nearly two weeks ago is up for auction, along with 100 other exotic animals from the man’s personal collection.

Earlier this month, The Sun first reported that Marvin Hajos, 75, had been killed by his pet cassowary at his farm near Alachua. News of his death traveled worldwide and spurred discussion of the dangers of keeping such animals in captivity.

Now, the flightless bird, along with other vulnerable and endangered species, is being auctioned as one of Hajos’ last wishes, according to Gulf Coast Livestock Auction.

“Anyone seen video taping in any capacity will be deemed trespassing and will be escorted out by security,” the post warned. “Your video equipment may or may not be confiscated until all video recordings are distroyed (sic). Please do not comprise (sic) our position.”
