Yea. But honestly the whole defense needs work… PT has a lot of convincing to do for me honestly. His position group is one of the worst on the defense… but with granthams guys… but it doesn’t look good at all
Unless they’re superstars out of the portal. I don’t want them. Just keep recruiting hard and bring in guys that fit his culture and system
I agree. But I’m ready to play some other guys at safety and nickel. The ones we have get torched every single game. I don’t really care to see Powell-Roland out wide covering receivers either…
But i really don’t understand how we don’t have a couple of 5 star LBs lined up to come to Florida. There is IMMEDIATE playing time there behind shemar next year. Our starters will be gone. And behind them we just have a bunch of rush ends converted to LB
This strikes me as another HC bringing his friend from a lower division school that is in over his head as DC. Coker kept his friend at DC in Miami rather than firing and it cost him his job. Frost did the same at Nebraska. Will Billy make the same mistake with Toney who is just treading water right now. The other team does not even need to activate the punter when playing a Toney defense. In 4 game how many times have our opponents punted?
I’m willing to give toney a chance given what he’s inherited. But i agree with you. If it’s year 3 and it’s not fixed. I’m afraid it might be too late for nape at that point… and that stinks. Because i like Napier and think he can turn this thing around. Hopefully toney works out and it’s just poor habits of grantham players
On the positive side all of our punt returners will want to transfer out which should open up more positions for any defensive transfers.
Give Toney a chance. There are a couple guys, at least, on this defense who have been bad since they got here and have been here for at least 5 years. When better talent is here and ready we will see a better product on the field.
When is Toney going to teach one basic fundamental rule on defense/safeties? NEVER LET A RECEIVER GET BEHIND YOU ... NO MATTER WHAT!!!!
I think there were numerous situations last night where we had a chance to hold them to force a field goal or a punt or two and we bailed them out with mistakes. Execution seems like a bigger issue than play calling.
You know Raymond wants to play tight. We have a couple of guys who require the entire secondary play soft. I thought the safety play would be better this year but not seeing it yet.
