I have more respect than many on this board for Leonard's abilities, but that FSU is willing to invest for that many years in a guy his age, and that Leonard thinks he has the energy to keep going that long ... well, it's an interesting decision.

It’s a no risk thing for the noles really.
Even if he takes a step or 2 back he’s doing better than anyone else they can get (and with their recruiting that’s a year or two away minimum) and if he retires midway through they are off the hook on salary and look like they were committed to him through retirement.

    Good for him.

Great coach and a good guy!

I hope he continues to do what he enjoys doing for as long as he wants to do so.

We have once again cursed FSU with tanking a basketball game.

As a fan, I don't want to like any of my rivals. However, the more I learn about Coach Hamilton, the more I admire him. He seems to be a good guy that has evolved into an excellent coach. Sometimes good people make a poor choice in life. Can't hold one questionable decision against him ;)

Gator fans should recognize his accomplishments.
Tough conference and they have competed well.

They should have offered him a five year deal to coach the football team. It would be an upgrade.

(I like the guy too. Seems to have a positive impact on young men.)

It's kind of hard for Gator fans to mock Hamilton at this point.

I mean they do belong there. They hired the right guy and have given him the resources to be competitive in the ACC. As much as we hate it, it doesn't mean they don't belong.

My comment that “they don’t belong” was tongue in cheek. Who the hell am I to say who does or does not belong on the elite world of college sports.
To clarify, Hamilton has built a team that consistently rises to the level of a top 25 team, something no other fsu basketball coach has done before.

I know some folks freak out that we're on a losing streak again FSU, but Coach Hamilton has recruited well and he's always had an eye for talent, his players are long & athletic. His teams normally play good defense and rebound well so there's a good foundation. They've been near the top of the ACC standing for three years.

As much as I'd like to beat them, we're not losing to the FSU that we've gotten used to....they're good most nights...and and elite when their offense gets going.

I thought Hammy was bad-to-mediocre for years, but he has gradually built a really strong program there. There's something to be said for patience. Or indifference, which is more likely in FSU's case.

There's nothing wrong with Leonard Hamilton getting an extension at FSU. Jim Boeheim is 76 and still coaching at Syracuse. He's won and been in several national championships and he has only cheated a little bit.
