I hesitated to post this since the Q&A is only open to premium subscribers . . . but thought some might find similar questions to those you would have asked so here it is: By: Nick Marcinko -- July 25, 2025 With fall camp right around the corner, I gave Gator Country’s subscribers a chance to ask questions regarding Florida Gators football. Here is part one of the Q&A. In your opinion, what must transpire for UF to win 10 games this season? How do you see the WR rotation working, specifically who fills the X, Y and Z positions and who backs them up? Everyone on this board thinks Napier is a great coach. Are they correct? Have you heard of anyone having lingering injuries that will cause them to miss or be limited when practices start? What do you think the Pass-Run ratio will be with this offense (including QB runs)? 2. What would you prefer the Pass-Run ratio to actually be? What will be the first offensive play of the season? Thanks, ET. Yeah, it's about time we do what we need to; win at LSU, beat Georgia or win a close one against Texas. To be elite, that kind of play needs to happen. And, as Nick mentioned, many of these games are 50/50 type match-ups. The play-calling has to set you up for first downs and TD's. Hopefully, we have the talent to overcome an occasional bad play call. A very exciting season approaches... Go Gators.
Even the best teams have bad calls and bad plays. The hood ones can work right through it. This should be the best year in some time but winning ten with this schedule would be tough for any team. May we improve significantly and luck be on our side.
That second question about the receiver rotation, or lack there of, is too telling and something that has bugged me for quite some time. We might5 have some 10 personnel plays in the book, but we need more of those plays called, and we might even need some 00 personnel sets as well. We have far too many talented receivers not to get more than just 4 receivers playing a meaningful number of snaps next year. That is something that needs to be addressed. We could either rotate more receivers or we can add in more 10 and 00 personnel plays in games. I wonder if we have plays that have the home side outside receiver sprinting down the field, on a fly route, every play. Because it's easy to get players on and off the field on the home side. IOW, it will NOT work with the far side receivers, it only works with home side receivers. It works to wear out the DS/Safeties, and it works to get more receivers on and off the field. And the big payoff is when the defense just runs out of gas and simply let the receiver run undefended... that's when we toss the bomb. I thought SOS ran some of those plays back in the day. We need a fly route on every play.
