Of course he tweeted his announcement from a Family Dollar. Our bagman won him over with Crocs and shades.

If he picked UGA, he probably would have been tweeting from a Ford dealership.

We’re “set” if QB play is decent. That’s a big if though.

Incoming player, not outgoing. Pitts was considered a very good player coming in, not nearly the player he is leaving as though. UF hasn’t had someone coming in considered this uber talented in some time, imho.

I'm not being salty- just asking the question.
From reading the boards I thought Bowman was more highly regarded than Gilbert.

At least in HS. Obv. Bowman wasn't at Clemson long enough to do a lot there.

Bowman was ranked #20 in 2020 class, Arik Gilbert was ranked #5 in the same class.

I don’t care about what they’re considered by recruiting geeks. Seen plenty “considered” by them to be great who were far from it. That OL we got a few years ago was like number 2 in the composite. He was far from great. More like decent by the time he left.

In addition to being more highly ranked in those highly subjective recruiting rankings, I’d say that coming in and catching three dozen passes as a true freshman, without a spring or full fall slate of practices, on a team with very inconsistent QB play means that there is the expectation that he could contribute more quickly than Bowman. For perspective- Gilbert caught more passes and had more yards last year than Gamble and Zipperer combined (And we actually use the TE in our offense).

You’re missing my point, not talking about recruiting geeks, but never mind.

If he actually plays for us (I’m a bit of a skeptic ), the drop off from Pitts won’t be quite so dramatic IMO (I don’t think he’ll be as productive though for various reasons [most significant being not having KT throwing to him]). Unfortunately the drop off from KT to EJ will be though IMO.

I think our offense may click better. No, we won't have the crazy passing numbers Trask put up, but we should have a more effective offense because of the running threat posed by EJ or Richardson. I'm not worried about QB; I'm more concerned about our O-line and D.

We played against him in HS when he was Marietta. He had 250ish and 4 TDs in the first half. Harrison Bailey was his QB but they also had Warrick JR and D1 commits all over the field. Thats why he was listed "TE". Dude was a man amongst boys in 7A in GA. I say this with caution because I know Pitts was a stud for us and I dont want to get killed. But AG could be even better than Pitts. Hes a freak.

What would our 2020 class rank be if these two were in it on signing day?

No. Gilbert was seen as an absolute can’t miss. Look no further than him being the overall number 5 ranked prospect at any position...never been done for a te. You’re splitting hairs between the 2 but no it would be inaccurate to say even bowman had the hype this kid did
