I doubted it from the beginning. :D In fact I had a sneaking suspicion he was trolling us. Might not have been but the thought crossed my mind.

I wonder if Kirby told him he was going to use him against Bama in a top secret 4th and 11 play late in the game which no one will see coming.

How is it that the couching staff did not know of his grades from the start? Did we just miss out on Arnold or somebody else because we saved a ship for Gilbert? How did the staff not know about Black missing a class as well? Is there an academic coordinator on the staff?

  10. Remember when we took Arjei Henderson when he had no shot at getting admitted at any big school? It's happened too much with this staff.

well, I would guess that if grades are truly the issue...

UF can do nothing to make Gilbert attend and pass classes at LSU. I am sure UF knew where Gilbert stood in January. But did Gilbert withdraw? Did he keep attending? How are UF coaches supposed to assure that he stays on track at another school and completed and passes courses? I am sure the plan was for Arik to pass his classes and then come to UF. If he doesn’t...I don’t blame Mullen and UF. That’s on Gilbert.

My instinct is, offer was made contingent on grades with Fuchs signing letter

Whatever the issue is, my prayer is that he can get it together and move on with his life.

There is absolutely no way Arnold goes to Bama because we “passed” on him. Idk why people keep saying that like it was a thing.

Elite schools don’t have these problems because they recruit depth. We just aren’t elite. We need an elite qb with a decent defense to make any sort of noise. Unfortunately that isn’t sustainable.

The dude got kicked out of the academic powerhouse known as LSU....there was never a chance for him to make it to UF. That’s all Gilbert’s fault, not UFs.

This staff definitely takes way too many academic risks, but I can let this one slide. If someone as talented as Gilbert wants to commit, you accept it and try/hope like hell to get him through. The reward greatly outweighed the risk here. Worst case scenario, as it turned out to be, is he doesn't qualify and we get the counter back. Best case? You've got an elite TE.

It didn't work, which sucks, but I can't really fault the staff on this one.
