John Capel (1998 Parade All-American WR) and Andre Debose (2009 parade All-American WR) were two of the fastest ever receivers to sign with Florida. It had the gator fans salivating upon their potential. Debose ended up being a potent, kick-off returner & punt returner.

Some other Gators on those Parade teams:
1998 - Earnest Graham (RB), Mike Pearson (OL)
    2009 - Xavier Nixon (OL)

Ahhhhhh you're taking me back now. I played at St. Cloud high school and against...... our biggest rival who was the osceola cowboys and I graduated in '01 and willie was 1 year ahead of me. Dude just did whatever he wanted to on the field back then. I still remember when their 2 best players him and LB chad mascoe announced their commitments. Mascoe picked the noles and willie "smoke" green chose the good guys, but never seen the field.

Mascoe has a son that is a highly rated recruit coming up. He was an absolute monster on the field, both sides of the ball

Would be interesting to go back and analyze those Parade All American teams and see how many became first round draft choices and better yet, how many became All Pros thereafter. The list and fanfare did not often live up to hype

I wonder how Smith's UGA visit went and can we get enough traction with him to get him on campus for an OV. That'll be the key. If he doesn't pull the trigger before the season starts, we're still in it no matter how slim the odds may LOOK.

I would love to have him but won't be disappointed if we don't land him

Even if he doesn't pick us (and i don't believe he will), it's good to get these highly rated players on campus especially at positions of need and not just a courtesy OV.

Since the start of 2019, for this recruiting cycle we've been able to get Smalls, Washington, Evans, Dexter, Smith, Bowman, Rosemy, Webb, Roy, Harris to visit us. That's 10 of the top 50 players in the country and while we only got Dexter to sign, we still made great impressions on all of them.

If I was CDM I would just walk Smith over to Halloways office and say hey talk to your future Olympic coach.

I'm thinking Bama and Clemson don't have space for him

I've read that Clemson has cooled on him and pressing for Henderson.

As they should. I don't think Smith did anything of note this year at Lakeland

I believe Smith is just another John Capel, and Smith's speed will never translate well on the football field at the next level. Lets not forget Capel gave up football after his soph year to concentrate only on track.........I believe Smith ends up much the same career path before all is said and done.

I agree or he could be another Anthony Schwartz. From all of what i heard about him football wise, you seem more on the right path because you don't hear or see much about what's he's doing ON the field, especially this past season.

I'll put it this way.......I haven't been the biggest fan of Wideman in as far as someone I'd like the staff to go after, but if I had to choose between Smith or Wideman.......I wouldn't have to think twice about it....I'd take Wideman in a heart beat over Smith.

Smith is not visiting as of now and is unsure if UF will even get an official visit. Pretty weird especially if we are really in his top 3 (Bama, UGA & us). Heard that he won’t even entertain Holloway our track and field coach so it seems as if he’s not interested in us whatsoever. He’ll most likely end up at UGA or Bama & everything will be fine. Elite speed but isn’t the most polished receiver and still has a lot to work on. The WR board still looks good & things will work out as planned. Heath probably sticks with Miss St, Henderson & Portier to UF & unsure on Robinson..if the staff wants him he’s ours imo.
