Are We Good With Qatar Fighter Jets Based in Idaho?

Actually, this is not just us bringing in allies fighter pilots to train them on our bases, which is what we have done in the past. This is establishing an actual military Qatari base! Are you kidding me???

There’s no actual Qatari military base being established. It’s a Qatari training facility on a US base

 

Some of you are really in la la land. We’ve trained any country who flies our fighters, helos, ASW, Patriot, artillery systems, armored, vehicles, special forces ad nauseum, etc. at US installations. Those installations have liaison offices, support facilities, basic pilot, advanced pilot training, weapon systems training maintenance and logistics training facilities integrated with US forces. FMS, as another poster stated, has been a thing for along time. Our training is the best in the world.

I supported ELF1 in Riyadh at KKMC in the 80s. We were training Saudi AWACS crews training.to protect Saudi Arabia from Iran. The Saudi AF trained in Tinker with the 552nd and had joint crews on US AWACS flying real world missions from KKMC. The Al Yamamah hotel was our billet.
There was also the USMTM training the Saudi National Guard/Army.
Also supported Omani, Jordanian, Pakistani, Egyptian and Moroccan forces training.

No foreign bases are allowed on US soil/territories. A simple google search might've but probably not prevented the usual out pouring of tds related screeching and squawking about another “threat” to democracy or whatever this place has turned into. It’s just the usual chicken little barf from the usual folks. It’s obviously not a thing some are capable of preventing. What a sheltered life indeed.

Ok, you're right. I looked it up again and see the AP article about it. I did read several articles when I wrote my post that stated it would be a base for Qatar. And no, they weren't some weird far left website. So I'm a little confused, but I trust AP so I'll have to admit I was wrong.

This deal though imho is probably a thank you for the $400m plane trump got.

 

The only odd thing is Qatar having its own facility (whether they “own” it or not, even if it’s contained within a U.S. base). The way it’s described sounds unusual. I know we’ve had pilot training with foreign militaries in the past on our soil. How many of even our closest allies have specific buildings on U.S. military bases? On our overseas bases it might be more expected (for example; I’m sure there must be NATO personnel scattered around offices on US bases in Europe and whatnot). I’d just wonder how much of that happens on domestic bases. Surely this is a first for an Arab nation? Gee I wonder what makes them special.
