If we have an AIPAC operative stalking every member of Congress, why not a Qatari F-35 in every state ?

They are stationed in an Idaho base and training there in American made jets WITH AMERICAN TRAINERS. We've been doing this with foreign fighter pilots FOR DECADES... Nothing new here.

Gaza is nearly leveled enough that it only needs a little asphalt to safely land planes on it, no?

I can only imagine the rants if a different administration allowed this

This probably part of the Israeli Gaza Peace deal. The Trump Admin needed the Qataris to put pressure on Hamas to release the hostages and accept the deal. This was probably one of their asks that was an easy thing to say yes to.

The base is not the problem, it's the airspace. Eventually, the pilot has to take a plane aloft, and that's where things could get exciting.

It is likely that Qatar is too close to Iran for military training flights to not get dangerous. And I'm sure that Saudi Arabia would prefer that they train somewhere else. That part of the Middle East may not be ready for military pilot training. Too many countries in close proximity on hair-trigger alert, and too many pilots have watched too many movies (too little discipline in the militaries).

Not sure what the USA gets in return but we have done this with other nations before

Well…probably jobs since the base doesn’t run itself. And the cost of the training. And then for the liberal conspiracy people, a new AF1 ;)

Maybe we don't quit trust their pilots in our F-35s not to "leave the reservation" so close to other not so friendly nations in and around Qatar? Maybe it's just easier this way? Do we have instructor pilots in Qatar? I would rather we train them on our soil versus on their land near hostiles. But I have to admit that at first I thought training them there would have been better.

I really don't quite have the answer as to why they're here, but I would love for some reporter to ask Trump why we have them on our soil and not on their land in their airspace...

    That's right, the new versions.

I read something that I had not seen in previous articles. One member of congress is supposedly angry with the POTUS because she said that the Qatari are building a new base in Idaho. There is NO way on Earth that they would own it or run it, even if true... So, I need to look more into that little "detail" about that future base.

By the way, the radicals that reside in Qatar are former Palestinians that because of billionaires, all thanks to American financial aid to the Palestinians.

So, now we know the truth about the Qatari money train to radical groups all across our country, from Ivy League universities to schools in Texas.
I remember for years we gave both Israel around $3 billion /annually and the Palestinians $3 billion/annually to "play" nice... Looks like a "a few good Palestinians" took their money to Qatar.

We've been backing Al Qeada in Syria since around 2007. We contributed to ethnic cleansing/genocide in Gaza and Ethiopia. We dragged Ukraine into war and Trump has made things worse. We backed Israel's attack on Iran and we seem to be preparing for war against Venezuela (wanted by Rubio). Trump needs to honor his campaign commitment to not start any wars. Qatar isn't at the top of my list of priorities

I believe the suspension of the Saudi training in Pensacola was temporary but then resumed with some tighter controls. At the very least, it seems that we have been training Saudis at other U.S. bases.

Trump before the not-a-bribe "gifting," of an opulent jet:

"The nation of Qatar has traditionally been a funder of terrorism, at a very high level."

    Now we're besties?

Are you paying attention to their actions with regard to Hamas? That part of the world is not filled with great people that believe in Western style democracy. If we are bribing the Qataris to stop funding Hamas and bring this war to a conclusion, would you be OK with that?

In theory, yes, with a caveat. Actions undertaken due to bribery are suspect for longevity and commitment. A rapid switching of coats is an indicator of unreliability, imo.

The Israeli air strike in their country probably had more to do with it. I think they found out about the advantages of 5th Gen aircraft and Israeli intel gathering the hard way.
