Vol Nation should be concerned with every opponent. Their secondary is poor.

Shouldn’t he have hit a wide open Shorter on the play before that?

If you watch the GN film analysis BN appears to have learned some of the lessons the film shows. Very little back to the field PA, wider splits, more receivers, and more creative routes including double moves that take time. AR missed some opportunities but even then usually found a positive play. Back to read progression, firm steps, etc.

On one play they did a UK style PA with him turning all the way back on PA and like anti-magic, he immediately took bad steps. I agree that that sort of action just makes him immediately uncomfortable.

When he watches the field he is pretty deadly, even with some inaccuracy.

UT was basically playing the same D UK and USF put on film. A spy, lots of cover 3, selling out on the run, bringing someone to his right, and also had a maniac going nuts (Young) all over the field winning his individual matchups regularly.

And he just ate it up. Not one ball into coverage, no double-clutch late mystery throws, no running out of bounds for sacks. Still not checking all the way down, and he never has, but that one is easily understandable as inexperience. No passes three feet too high.

Missed a mesh concept for a TD but that was also literally the first game we’ve run them. I bet he sees it next time. And once he dumps a couple to ETN or MJ and they turn them into TD’s he’ll embrace that too.

Also threw a couple of silly dimes. The first TD pass was an insane laser that the DB simply didn’t believe he could get there. And that was him under heavy fire in the pocket. Also saved a sure safety by evading TWO free-runners who didn’t blow by him, they played it well. He just badassed them.

He blew the run on the fumble, that had already worked twice and it was going to again. Again, I bet he’ll see that and wonder why he turned that back. He didn’t trust the play on the first 4th down either. That’s what makes MJ so good, he gets the blocking scheme and waits for it. But MJ is a couple hundred reps deep at this point.

Basically all of his mistakes were inexperience. And he almost won a game in which we couldn’t even get a team to 4th down and asked him to get SIX of them.

I find it hard to believe a guy who isn’t legit can even have a single day like that. This wasn’t Vince Young playing with a NC roster running a glorified option offense. Dude went stud. And he’s almost assuredly nowhere near as-good-as-you-can-hope-for healthy. I believe he said he was a 7.5, and that’s likely him downplaying it.

On a serious note, some of these points only support how much of ARs struggles were confidence issues. Major ones. Sure the offense has adapted to facilitate him as mentioned but gone are the double taps and hitches in the throwing motion, the flat footed almost disinterested stance, the lowered head and terrible body language.

And to go back to the new rival that doesn't understand why we are hopeful with performances like this even against an admittedly weak defense like Tennessee, it's because USF likely has an even weaker defense and yet it was AR that shut down AR against them. His stats won't be as impressive against better teams but hopefully we never see the crisis of confidence that shelled him ever again.

The next 5 SEC games will be telling as he will face fast, tough defenses.

Yes, yes, yes, AR's footwork was very good! He still threw a few times flat-footed or off-balance but much better throwing technique.

He’ll move back up, way up, if he continues to play like he did against Tenn, imho.

I just hope AR comes back next year. He gets enough Nil money, he can buy plenty of insurance, he's not poverty stricken by any means. The whole landscape with Nil has changed. Learn the game. Get the experience and then move on.

If all these more polished QB's are sitting, AR might not see the field for a bit. What's more fun, playing at packed SEC stadiums refining your craft or sitting on a bench? Consistency helps your cause.

    Go Gators.

I see someone has been living rent-free in your head. ;)

I think Richardson's performance against Tennessee was very impressive, but to go along with the post above, I need to see consistency. Its very easy to look at what Richardson did against Tennessee and think its an accurate assessment of who he is as a QB, but I simply don't believe a four game sample this season is enough for an realistic evaluation. More so, when you review his struggles the previous three games as a passer (not just a runner vs Utah), it strongly suggests the Tennessee game could be more of a statistical outlier...especially considering how poorly Tennessee played defensively in the game. Does this mean Richardson doesn't deserve a lot of the credit? Of course not. Regardless of how the defense plays, the offense still has to execute....and Richardson did a great job of executing. However, there is no way an objective/unbiased individual watches that game and doesn't consider defensive play. How much effect it had is still to be seen, but we should get a good indication against Missouri and LSU.

Totally agree, AR is developing as a college qb, and needs to have a body of work to play in the NFL. However, I'm sure some NFL scout will come after him as a developmental player, which would be a huge disservice to AR!

You guys win one championship in a major sport in 50 years and now you feel comfortable to come into the UF forum and talk about what you need to see from our players to deem them worthy. The arrogance. Smh
