This should be an awesome movie to see in IMAX format. Todd Douglas Miller's documentary movie will be released in IMAX only March 1, everywhere else March 8.
    The trailer is here:
    Apollo 11 | NEON

    And a review here:
'Apollo 11' Review: Man’s Greatest Adventure to the Moon | National Review

"There is no narration in the film, hence no sense that we’re being told a story that is over. Director Todd Douglas Miller simply assembles and restores awe-inspiring 70mm archival footage, much of it little-seen until now, and syncs it up with available sound, mostly technical talk, from the eight-day mission in July 1969."

Just came back from watching it it was amazing. No narration, mostly chatter between Apollo 11 and ground control. And the cleaned up footage looks great in Imax.

Another note...Do not wait until it's available for streaming, Imax is the only way to see this.

This trailer alone makes this seem ten times better than that last movie (First Man) that came out about Neil Armstrong... much better than that movie by Spielberg.

I know this will not disappoint from the looks of it....

Not sure which Spielberg movie you are referring to, Apollo 13 was directed by Ron Howard. I thought it was a great movie, especially when you consider that all of the weightless scenes were shot on a spacecraft set inside NASA’s vomit comet. First Man was a disappointment, but I can’t wait for Apollo 11. My growing up years in Florida we’re basically mercury to Apollo. Saw many launches and made a visit to the Cape when Apollo eight was sitting on the launch pad. Had two relatives who worked in the space program, one who helped design the attitude control system for the Apollo command module.

I said First Man sucked... That was the Spielberg film I was talking about.

My bad. I did not know that First Man is Spielberg. Not up to this usual standard.

Neon also picked up the rights for Aretha Franklin's Amazing Grace doc. They showed the trailer before Apollo 11 and it looks like it's going to be amazing, this isn't the official trailer they showed but it will give an idea of what's coming.

This film brought the launch to life better than anything else I've ever seen. All of the earthbound photography is the best I've ever seen, whether it's new footage or familiar footage that has been cleaned up. A lot of the mission footage looks spectacular, too, especially the Hasselblads and even a couple of the 16 mm reels. For the first time ever, you could see the faces of the men inside those isolation suits and tell who was who as they walked from the helicopter into the quarantine trailer on the Hornet.

That's the beauty of shooting on film. It's already 4K, they just lacked the tech to show it that high until now

No. Is it still showing in IMAX? Maybe it'll be a Memorial Day tradition.

Not sure if it's showing in IMAX. It was out in 3D and I wanted to see it that way but a traffic accident in front of us delayed our arrival and we saw a later 2D showing, which was excellent. It's really amazing what they did with choppy, jumpy, poor quality original footage. I recommend everyone see this movie.

First Man was directed by Damien Chazelle. Spielberg was one of the Exec Producers.

Wife and I saw Apollo 11 tonight. Outstanding! What an amazing bunch of engineers who designed and built these systems that propelled men into space...to the moon and back. Just amazing. Neil Armstrong--ever the humble gentleman--singled them out for thanks from his quarantine quarters.

I so want to see this. It comes to my theatres every few weeks, bit always at 1:30 on a Thursday.

I love 3D, but it can distract from a compelling story. I usually watch the 2D version first, then the 3D so I can enjoy the effects without missing the story.
