    What makes something a "real" religion? I've heard Christians describe science as a kind of religion on this board. The way people throw it around it just seems like a set of beliefs that people subscribe to. I mean the IRS says scientology is a real religion, and it was started by a sci-fi writer who thought psychoanalysis was evil.

    Satan was the first rebel against authority, perhaps that is evil, but that also makes him cool to some people. Think of worshiping Satan like refusing to take a covid vaccine or wear a mask, its the same basic principle.

    So... authority is evil? People are evil but make authority itself evil is really not true at all. Authority is what people make of it. Some authority is good like when we're at war with fascists, and we need authority... leaders in our military to make the big plans to defeat the enemy.

    So, that bring us back to the "rebel" named Satan. Nothing good comes from him nor his worshiping.

    I think it is human to crave authority while also rebelling against it. The same impulse you have to have daddy Trump make everything good and safe for you is contradictory to the one where you are like "nobody is making me wear a mask at Arbys." But yet, you have reconciled those things. So we all have reconciled God and Satan to some degree.

    Here are the Tenents of the Satanic Temple . It’s great because it’s all things people can achieve in their life on Earth. There is no magic man in the sky … as others have pointed out, they just use Satan as a figurehead. They don’t believe he exists. There are no scientifically disproven stories of how we got here. No promises of living forever on a cloud if you follow their rules … that keep changing. They have very reasonable and obtainable beliefs. It’s a great religion if you need one.

    THERE ARE SEVEN FUNDAMENTAL TENETS
    I
    One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
    II
    The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
    III
    One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
    IV
    The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
    V
    Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
    VI
    People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
    VII
    Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
