Such a shame. He was such a talent. I feel bad for him.

I had wondered if UF had a more stringent concussion protocol- that is, why chase could play at Dayton, but miss out at UF. I think a family member made a comment that had me thinking we might have over-done some things with Chase. But it’s looking we had his best interest in mind all along?

Tough deal. Would have been better off staying at Florida and getting the UF degree.

He had 18 points in 14 minutes against Houston Baptist. That’s impressive.

Bad breaks for Chase. He would have been a good 4-year player at UF if healthy. I understand the medical issues though... I have a friend who's still dealing with serious headaches, hearing, and vision problems a full year and a half after a concussion.

I can’t make a comparison to Dayton, but yes... there was apparently some frustration that Florida was slow to clear Chase to play.
This does seem to validate Florida’s cautious approach.

“Chase Johnson is doing well as he recovers from post-concussive stress syndrome. He is continuing to make great strides and is looking forward to joining the team when he is medically cleared.”

Quote from the article in the OP, clearly validates UF not clearing him to play if he is still dealing with the effects of the concussions.

Like some injuries that take more than a year to recover, let's hope that he can come back next season

It is only a game. Hope the kid finds meaning and a career beyond a round leather ball and protects his mental and physical health.

Wonder if he should play with a soft helmet or head gear? Wish him well. Lit of talent, but not sure can stay healthy as a big battling down low.

Could have used him with this team. Would have provided some anchoring it sorely lacks.

Some kids are snakebit and can’t catch a break. Gak is another example.
