Just before a high school basketball game featuring Pueblo High (mostly Hispanic school located near Tucson airport), at Walden Grove High in Sahuarita (upper-middle class, 10-year old master planned community in Tucson's Southern foothills), the referee asked the Pueblo Coach if all of his players had their green cards! The Pueblo and the Grove High students handled it well, and the referee has since been fired.

What Is A "White Hispanic"? | HuffPost

The joke was inappropriate, but it doesn't fall under the "racist" label.

Yep. There are Hispanics of many different races. White, Asian, Native American, of African descent, etc.

Can someone please build a time machine and take me back to the days where people weren’t offended by everything? I bet we were all happier then...and people were fired because they were just bad at their job duties, not inappropriate jokes or social media posts

If you think that's bad, the n-word was heard in a packed football stadium in Georgia. The NCAA is currently trying to decide what to do about it.

Maybe go back to 1954 Alabama when blacks were not offended to have to ride on the back of the bus? They just did it naturally? What would be a good time for you? Maybe the 1960s when water cannons were opened on protestors or they were just beaten. Because offensive language when regularly employed has a negative effect. Maybe the sensitivity to offending actually makes people aware that they are actually offending someone?

I’d choose to go back to 1970. Or anytime between 68 and 71.

That was a really good year for me.

I was a kid, so I didn’t give a rats ass what was going on in the world.

Yeah, it was really great for everyone else too. War in Vietnam, revolutionary groups killing people and blowing shit up, national guard shooting unarmed students, major public figures assassinated, racial violence at all time highs. Fun times!

No kidding, my introduction to the "world out there" consisted of assassinations, race riots, neighborhood kids (older than me) shipped off to Viet Nam either to come home messed up or not at all, a lying cheating president who had to resign in disgrace, Roots, massive inflation, oil shocks, and the Vikings getting beat over and over and over again in Super Bowls. Thank gawd for Zappa, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the Stones!

I’m curious, how old were you during your “golden age”? That’s an oddly specific three year period.

Ah, it was a rough time, and it hasn't gotten any better. Morten Anderson? Daunte Culpepper? Brett Farve anyone??? Last year's NFC Champ Game???

Like I said. I was a kid and didn’t pay much attention to that stuff.

Best time ever for me and I’d go back in a heartbeat.

It's also notable that black people weren't really allowed to be offended back then, but white people sure could be. Of course, when white people got offended back then, they felt compelled to lynch people.
