Millions of people across the United States are preparing for a potentially record-breaking heat wave. At least 14 states across the country are expecting to see all-time high temperatures leading into the weekend. CBS News weather producer David Parkinson has the details.

    Stay safe......

Wimps. Around here that's just another Tuesday. Or a Gator game. :p

Seriously, a lot of those people don't have AC and the elderly could be at risk.

Was between 105 and 110 when we were in France and Germany last month. Brutal. Egg frying temps.

I went to my tire shop this week to get new tires for my work truck.

I usually deal directly with the owner, but was told he was on vacation in Alaska. I commented, "He's got the right idea getting out of Florida in mid-summer!" He replied with a chuckle..."Yeah - it's 90 degrees right now where he's at."

Not unheard of, but rare and really dangerous.

No. Wife and son are there visiting Grandma. I'm headed up for a week at the end of the month. 1 full day halibut fishing and hopefully some good silver salmon fishing on the other days. Time to restock the freezer. If you like salmon, now is a good time to get fresh red salmon at Publix. Red run is huge this year so prices should be down

OK thanks for the head's up. I haven't had any Salmon in a while so will check it out. Was just making my shopping list up now anyway...lol.

Best wishes on your trip and hope that freezer gets well stoked!

Those temperatures you posted are about perfect!

It’s all good training. For what I don’t know. I was in some woods in Woodbine, GA today getting ready for deer season. Was 96 with humature of 107. Even the yellow flies had enough and left us alone. Humature: From George Winterling, a Jax meteorologist, coined the term which is basically today’s “it feels like” temperature. Combination of humidity and temperature. ...I pulled that out of some old cobwebs!

    A little story about Winterling:

When my father returned from the Pacific following WWII he was mustered out at Jax. His sister and brother-in-law lived there so he stayed with them waiting for his discharge. There was a family living next door who had a young son that my dad would see playing in the yard. He found out later from his sister that it was George Winterling. Winterling and his weather reports were a staple in our house for many years.

Yesterday's high in Seattle was 70°. Today it's a scorcher, supposed to reach 73°. My tomatoes aren't happy this year, esp. the UF variety Garden Gem, it really doesn't like this weather.

We're doing our best to keep the temps down planet wide, but the rest of you keep mucking things up.

I'll be there next Wednesday for 3 days part of our 14 day trip along the coast then into Canada. I'm looking forward to trip. Sounds like I better plan on drinking a few more beers to stay hydrated

I won't be there, or I'd help keep you hydrated.

Some, no, tons of great restaurants and beer in this ridiculously foody town. Plan ahead and get reservations.

And get on the water if you can. Take a sunset windhjammer or pull some pots an the Lucky Catch

Just returned from Valparaiso, Chile, where it's currently winter. :emoji_skier:
The "feels like" temp in Raleigh this Saturday will be 111. :emoji_scream: Looks like some folks might head to FL to cool down. Otherwise, take a visit up here to Duluth. We have a pretty nice natural A/C unit.
