Would you agree that in the future most common labor will be replaced by robots? That the work force will have to be more intelligent & educated? Some of the average IQs by country. Hong Kong 108, Singapore 108, S Korea 106, Japan 105, Italy 102, Austria 100 and the UK 100. Then there are these Bangladesh 82, Honduras 81, Nicaraqua 81, El Salvador 80, Guatemala 79, Somalia 68 and Haiti 67. I have an Idea, based on peoples willingness to pay huge sums of money to get here US citizenship must be valuable. Why let anyone that wants it just wander in? Take people from high IQ countries. I know liberals don't like them because they are too smart and have to be kept out of Harvard

I don’t know if you’re trying to be humorous, but we turned away Jews who were trying to get out of Europe because of Hitler. Where do you think that they ended up?

All of them who have been here for years and have not committed serious crimes. How they end up being dealt with can be determined through a comprehensive immigration bill.

You pay property taxes either through ownership or renting. A county in Tennessee recently determined that it cost the average taxpayer $500. /yr to pay for illegals. That does not count the cost of state and federal aid or medical care. If you ever need medical care it will be more expensive and less available. Doctors , nurses and trained techs don't fall out of the sky. Same number of docs and more people demanding care. Connect the dots.

Ok and how much do the raids/deportations cost by comparison? Do they create a labor shortage when they are kicked out? How does that effect our economy?

in 2014 the U.S. Sentencing Commission found that 75 percent of all criminal defendants who were convicted and sentenced for federal drug offenses were illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants were also involved in 17 percent of all drug trafficking sentences and one third of all federal prison sentences.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Sentencing Commission reported that as of 2014, illegal immigrants were convicted and sentenced for over 13 percent of all crimes committed in the U.S.

You compared the people coming here for free stuff with people targeted by their SOCALIST government. People coming here for free stuff does not equate to people being hunted by their SOCIALIST government. BTW the same type of government many on the left demand for the US.

There was a Democrat in the Whitehouse when those Jews were turned away.....I will say he had reasons though, the Jews were coming from Germany, there was a fear some would be Nazi spies.

Wow. So the US sentencing commission lied to me. I am heart broken. I suppose all those acts of violence perped by illegals on the tv are lies. Are the crime stats from south of the border lies Too? Those poor downtrodden illegals sure get a bad rap. But wait isn't theft and breaking and entering a crime? 87% if illegals are on some form of welfare that is stealing. 100% broke into this country that is illegal.

While I was at Florida I had an acquaintance that was at the UF on a student visa. He was from Ireland which may indicate what race he was. He was also a very good athlete. Long story made short, he over stayed his visa, fought the deportation order in court, was ruled against, still didn’t leave, and was eventually forced to leave. I saw him a few years ago and he said he spent many years under a do not enter order.

Are robots going to clean houses, landscape yards or build new homes? Because I know someone with a high IQ isn’t.

Most drug arrests are made by local law enforcement. Feds are only involved if the drugs come over a border or cross state lines. In 2017, the were over 1.6 million drug arrests, with 84% of them possession only. Very few, if any of these arrests would be for possession only. Especially those caught by ICE, who can also charge for intent to sell, as well as immigration charges. The percentage of Fed drug arrests compared to overall drug arrests is very small, since the Feds don't do too many drug arrests.

As for IQ, it's not a great measure if intelligence. And remember, the Q stands for quotient, meaning there's a standard basis for all test takers. This means a country with an excellent K12 education with a mostly humongous population will score higher than a country with a poor education. Or one with a more diverse population that faces more educational challenges.

Second generation Americans of Hispanic descent (1st gen citizens) are some of the most upwardly mobile people in this country. By 3rd generation, they tend to graduate high school and now go to college at the same levels as other groups.

We also currently need the immigrant labor. There are 8 million in our work force at a time with over 7 million job openings and only 6 million on unemployment. What would happen to our economy if millions of illegals left, opening up millions of more positions?

Maybe one day more things will be automated and we won't need immigrant labor. But today is not that day, and it won't be tomorrow, next year, or likely next decade. If and when it does happen, we can adjust accordingly. But today, the best policy is an increased guest labor program that matches labor supply with demand.

Here's another from the CATO Institute. You may want to read it.
77% of Drug Traffickers Are U.S. Citizens, Not Illegal Immigrants

Mentioned it before, the 87% of illegals on welfare is essentially a phony number based on manipulation of statistics. The source is census data which is household based and which uses a very broad definition of federal benefits. Using an example, a 4-person household consisting of an illegal father, a mother with a green card (lawfully admitted for permanent residence) and two US citizen children receiving free school lunches would be considered an illegal alien household on welfare under the study since under the census definition the school lunches are considered a benefit. Illegals are not eligible for any means-tested welfare benefits and even legal immigrants, with very few exceptions, are not eligible for welfare unless they have lived in the US for at least five years.
