Looks to me like Harold W. Geisel was the acting IG of the state department from 2008 until 2013, when Linick was confirmed. So saying there was no state department IG is not true.

But I was wrong in my previous post. It was Bush that nominated the permanent IG replacement that wasn't acted on, not Obama.

It's so obvious what is going on here with this and other Trump actions. If anyone can't see it (and they either can't or don't care), just wait till he has four more years to make it perfectly clear. It will have taken 40 years to get to 1984.

Congress members from both sides are questioning Trump's motive (even though it is obvious)... in addition for Pelosi calling it unlawful and the House Foreign Affairs committee investigating.

“Congress requires written reasons justifying an IG’s removal,” said GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, the co-founder and chairman of the Whistleblower Protection Caucus, in a statement Saturday. “A general lack of confidence simply is not sufficient detail to satisfy Congress.”

Pelosi says Trump firing of State Department inspector general could be 'unlawful' if done in retaliation

A senior State Department official said Linnick was investigating Pompeo's use of federal employees for personal errands. What does our president think about that?
Well, if Pompeo's wife isn't around to do it... then the federal employees ought to be washing Pompeo's dishes. That's what our president thinks.

Trump says if Pompeo's 'wife isn't there' a staffer should do the dishes so he can work

How did Trump get so much power over all the Republican congressmen and senators? He's required to explain why he keeps firing the watchdogs. Screw it. He doesn't do it.

Trump railroads Republicans with new watchdog firing

I mean, why should he have to hire any domestic help? I get it for free a the WH. he's an important man, he has better things to do than wash dishes and walk dogs.

The man is totally blind to the law. He doesn't care

They are good people, paying good money, to keep good honest, hard working Americans employed. Why should Congress have any say in that?

Until someone stops him he is going to continue to show blatant disregard for the rule of law in this country.
