That's great....looks like you might be seeing Brett Favre at the next family reunion.
Yep, your wife's case was similar to mine. I had always been told my ancestry was from one Scandinavian country, DNA said it was the country next door. Guess my ancestors moved, but not far, which is why I said DNA nationality is fluid.
Bringing this up as I may be the rare individual that learned nothing of substance from my Ancestry results.
Turned out my paper trail goes back farther than did my Ancestry results!
You going to start threads on DNA testing being "demonology" now?
I just created a thread on demonology of a sort. Maybe settle old scores there ?
I did it and ended up with 4 new half siblings and a Son I wasn't aware of.
Not sure to take this as a joke or seriously, so no comment
No joke at all. To be honest I have really enjoyed getting to know my 3 new sisters and 1 brother (he actually was adopted and never knew his real Mother) My Son on the other hand well that has been a bit more difficult
That’s pretty sweet. I know a couple of adoptees who connected with their bio parents this way.
Weird. My SIL is married to a Hatfield who’s great great (unsure how many greats) uncle was Devil Anse.
I guess I learned that I had relatives fight for the bad guys in the Civil War (my Uncle had said we did, but I thought it was just typical southern BS). It was also pretty crazy how far I could trace certain lines back.
My family, both sides, were consistent losers. Both were Loyalists, during the so-called Revolutionary War. Both were Confederate in the so-called Civil War.
That would be the same relationship of me to Devil Anse except my relationship to Anse is by marriage not a blood kin to Anse.
Big Ephram Hatfield had 7 sons one of which was Devil Anse. My Great Great Grandfather Nathan Chafin had 8 daughters. The Hatfield farm bordered the Chafin farm, what do you think the Hatfield boys and Chafin girls were doing for all those years. It turned out my Great Grandmother Mary Chafin Webb had 4 sisters that married Hatfields. One of those sisters was Levisy Chafin Hatfield the wife of Devil Anse.
My ancestors fought on both sides in both wars and all were killed 5 of them reside in Bonaventure Cemetery in Thunderbolt Georgia
So its fair to say you come from a long line of losers
Dating from the Civil War, seems you and I are in the same boat ?
My great grandfather (Seaborn) was performing logistics works for the Rebels when he was shot and killed by Yankee Blue-Belly cavalry when his wagon was transporting "SALT" from an old salt works that was located off Hwy 3A (off 331 betwween Destin and Panama City). Near Grayton Beach. Not to many people are aware of that old salt work.
This is the only "famous" person my family found on my dad's side. Sounds like he was a better lawyer than military commander but still cool.

I come from a long line of cowards I guess. On my dads side my great grandfather 2nd Va calvary surrendered and spent the remainder of the war in Point Lookout MD Yankee prison camp. On my mothers side Ivan Holder 2nd Florida calvary surrendered and was sent to a Georgia prison camp. When the going got tough my ancestors brought out the white flag I guess.
