Outsider question - I find this all fascinating. Your politics is definitely more interesting than ours...

To the uniformed (me!), I was wondering - lots of candidates now for the Democrats. Is there any chance that the in-battling for nomination will weaken the eventual candidate against Trump in the final race?

I don't think it will. The Democrats are dying to beat Trump.

I do believe it opens the door for an extreme left winger to get nominated though. Which could be a problem in a presidential election against Trump.

Normally that's a problem but most Democrats would vote for Stalin over Trump at this point. They don't care who the nominee is. There might be a slight depression of turnout if their nominee is a nutjob, but not much IMO.

Amy Klobuchar won reelection in 2018 by a 24% margin and in doing so carried a number of counties in Minnesota that Trump won in 2016. With the possible exception of Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown, Amy Klobuchar is the potential Democratic presidential candidate most likely to flip the Midwest back to the Democratic Party.

It definitely should but the big X factor is the media which no doubt will run cover for some of the more extremist views that are going to come out as the party plays to it's lunatic fringe base.

    Like who?

    Mitt Romney?
    John McCain?
    the Bush crew?

All the guys that just a few months ago you said you all liked?

Radicals? Heck, even Trump is more Truman-style democrat than he is true-conservative.

Are you kidding? They would welcome a Stalin type. As long as he wasn't a white male.

Well it's more his love of authoritarianism and dictators like Putin and Kim Jong-un. But sure, the fact that he is an entitled white male who inherited his fortune and has no concern for anyone but himself plays a role too.

    Why Putin hates Hillary

Said it several times before, Obama was wrong when he dismissed Romney's 2012 statement that Russia was our greatest geopolitical threat. The photo of Hillary with Putin is also from 2012. Since Romney made the statement he was proven accurate when Russia invaded the Eastern Ukraine and annexed the Crimea in 2014. What's Trump's excuse since he had the hindsight to observe the worst of Putin and has actually defended the annexation of Crimea, not to mention the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Additionally, maybe I missed it, but no Democrat has suggested that Putin may be as credible in not more credible than multiple US intelligence agencies.

I'd be pretty sure that he wrote them a big check that night. kind of like what putin did to guarantee the Uranium One deal.

Russia is the successor of the Soviet Union. Putin was a trained KGB officer and referred to the fall of the Soviet Union as the greatest geopolitical disaster of the 20th Century and in case you haven't noticed, Putin's is trying to recreate a new version of the old Soviet Union. He has stepped military spending and over the last several years has been increasing the Russian presence in the Middle East especially Syria.

Thanks Obama.....maybe he should've answered the '80s call when they were offering their foreign policy

like I said, we NEED these inept people back ASAP! How we are able to survive without their brand of corruption and ineptitude, I have no idea

So you think that Carter, Reagan and George H.W. Bush were wrong for condemning the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan? In essence you're saying Reagan was over the top? Who would have thought that you would be condemning a conservative icon.
