This TV series was one of the things that defined the 80s.

The most important episode was the Wall. It is described on the wikipedia but unavailable. What stood out was the character Catarina and a sister brother reunification plot. Also, and I don't know that they did, but I loved the idea of hearing the chipmunks perform the Wall from Pink Floyd. I've never seen the end of the episode. Also, the voice actress for Catarina, I think the voice actress looked like the character.

I think it kind of inspired Small Wonder.

I think it may have been inspired by the X-17 stealth basselope, April 03, 1988. I've always wondered if there were a female ghost writer for Berkeley Breathed for some of his material. The name "Inoe" comes to mind. As in the suspected daughter of Ian McDiarmid.

And a mistakenness for Catalina instead of Catarina I'm sorry to say brought Kelly S McMahon to UF, who inspired the backside of the special heavy metal issue of Mad Magazine, called Metal Sludge, where Damien Lucifer lead singer of Antichrist says heavy metal music is not about Satan.

On the cover, July 1989 #288, was Alfred E Newman in full plate. I tried to explain it was supposed to represent Iron Maiden, I got interrupted so I said it stood for knighthood or something like that. Just to get rid of the conversation.

I think it also inspired the horror movie Hysterical, with turtle necked zombie managers it also inspired Robert McNamara's In Retrospect: The Tragedy and Lessons of Vietnam. It also inspired a New Republic cartoon with similar titles from other historical figures such as "Mein Bungle" from Adolf Hitler and "Mistakes were Made" from Genghis Khan.

It was a Tom Toles cartoon. Not really browsable.

I read this when it was just the OP and shook my head. I figured I had to missing something because it made no sense. Glad to know I’m not the only one.

That's just to identify the series as the one that began in 1983. Political commentary got really interesting at the beginning of George HW Bush's presidency and declined in Bill Clinton's second term.

Regan era commentary was undeveloped. Remember Max Headroom? and the character on Doonesbury? Ron Headrest

I agree completely, The chipmunks were complete liberals and their influence has sent us down a dark path.
