For sure. Every excuse in the book made for Mac when we gave at least five or six examples of guys that did not need three years to recruit top 10 classes or even top 5 classes. These guys would bash Spurrier if they read his comments and knew how straightforward and honest he was with regards to all things involving the state of our football program.

I have no issue with Mac being fired. Sure I would've been ok with 1 more year as he was poised to sign a top5 class, but he was never gonna get it done as a coach. I also have no issue with saying we need some more recruits. But when you look at our visitors list and our amount of open spots in the class, I feel comfortable with Mullen waiting a little longer. Especially when we have a good QB locked up and are definitely looking at the #1 RB and some top WRs. It's not like the dude is just twiddling his thumbs, only bringing 15 guys in for the spring game and saying ain't it cool to everyone. We by far had the best recruits at any spring game. We need to be back in the top5 almost every year to be a consistent power again there is no doubting that, but it doesn't just happen overnight when we have had two 4 win seasons in the last 5 years. Kids don't look at us the same anymore. Tebow's last year these kids were 10 years old, a lot of them simply don't see us as a power. And unless we went and signed an a****** like Harbaugh it wasn't gonna change overnight. So again just wait until Mullen actually signs a class with more than 2 months time before you jump on the dude and give him dated timelines on when he needs a certain amount of guys signed. Maybe just maybe the guy who took MSU to #1 in the rankings and makes $6mil a year knows a little more than either of you two.

When did urban begin committing recruits in his first full season? I'm not sure if its correct, but I heard it wasnt early in the process. Who were the early commits?

Don't ask specifics, they can't give you any. Just go look at Clemson's recruiting classes since 09 on 247sports and you'll see how full of it they are. Dabo is a great recruiter lmao.

Different era. I'm talking specifically about our early signing period. A lot of kids are going to start signing early, we don't want to try and fill our class with February kids. That's going to be tough.

Dabo is a great recruiter. He takes small classes and doesn't load up on the Mcelwain players that posters like you love.

Not at all. He did hit a homerun at QB but the rest of that class isn't good. He has turned it around since then and is a very good recruiter.

What's funny to me is that if that was our class back in 2009 I would be critical of it while you would be harping about how all those 3*'s are steals.

Vic Beasley, Bashaud Breeland, D-Hop, and Martavis Bryant?? Yeah man I do wish we could get players like that. Hopefully Mullen gets it done this summer.

I'l give you that his last 3-4 recruiting classes have been pretty good. He had 6 ones that would've had him fired here before he could have even had the chance to turn it around. So you tell me why people say give it time sometimes?

4 players does not make a team. Bryant had to reclassify. Also you know if that was our class everyone including you would be freaking out just because it's 7 years later and you know how good they will be does not make that a good class in anyone's eyes when it happened.

Again for 100th time. I'm talking specifically about the EARLY SIGNING PERIOD. If we don't get blue chip commits this summer we are looking at a less than stellar early class. The game has changed in recruiting. We need these kids early. Maybe someone can refresh my memory but I don't remember the Gators landing too many players during the season.

Hold up. I would have freaked out a little till I saw them play. I don't just go by stars (though I do like them), I wait till they actually see the field in college. And "everyone" wouldn't be freaking out on this board or you haven't been a member here long enough. Folks around here fluff anyone who commits

That's fair, but again it's 3 players since Bryant had to reclassify. That's still not a very good class. Anyway I'm done with this. I agree that we need good recruiting classes. I disagree on timing since most big fish wait until signing day unless they are early enrollees. We will get some that are EEs and most of the rest will wait. Go Mullen and Go Gators!

I agree it's a different era, but you literally asked about urban in his first full year at Florida.

Urban had just blew out who in his bowl game at Utah? And we weren’t very far removed from SOS. Our brand has been down for a decade now. Mullen has a much tougher job to do. Urban also had a NC roster waiting on him.
