They are entitled to their dissent. Not my brand of politics and approach, but it’s what makes our country great. I find it is sort of lame that he put this out there. It’s not like there aren’t voicemails and letters with similar thoughts being sent to the other side… from the same side

I’m curious if you listened to the voicemails. If you haven’t, then you should know that there was not one word of political discourse, not a syllable of any policy. Instead, the entirety of the voicemails were profanity laced threats. That’s not intellectually entitled “dissent.”

Those are called threats. Almost all of those are crimes, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with “discourse”.

The govt could never go after every clown who spouts off randomly online. But to leave voice messages I think raises it to a different level as far as it being a direct threat, and because of that far more likely to be looked at criminally.

I’m sure you’d be just as blasé if someone threatened your family; what a ridiculously partisan (and embarrassing) response.

 

When dissent becomes a threat it’s no longer simply dissent, I think was the point.
