If Stricklin wants to embrace the wannbes, he should probably negotiate a neutral site 13th game at Camping world, 2 for the Swamp, 1 on UCF campus.

Someone must have reminded Danny White about the 2007 game UCF ducked out of.

    Good point!

    From the article,

Offering only 4000 tickets to the visiting team is just not good enough for Florida or any other P5 opponent for that matter that may want to play UCF in their small stadium.

?? What does this author mean on that last part??

If any away P5 team is going to play in UCF's itty bitty little stadium, their AD White will need to pony up more than double the tickets (i.e 4k) than what is currently being offered.

    Sheesh!

Seemed like that might be a likely sticking point.

White is just modifying his saber rattling shtick a bit. He's well aware that it's a waste of UF's time to suggest they play in the heart of UF territory and only allow travel for 4k.

Still trying to pretend they'll play the big boys without actually playing the big boys.

He wants the one victory at all costs. He will accept two losses in Gainesville.

If UF goes 2-1 in those games, UCF will be all time 1-4 against UF. We will never hear the end of the “1” regardless.

Don’t need this $hit. Move on.

If he really believes UCF belongs among the elite, then he should take a lesson from Bobby Bowden. Play anyone anywhere at any time and if you win there is no longer a worry, you have made yourself elite and you can begin to write your own script.

Since when do "Big Time Programs" play in less than 50,000 capacity home fields?

Just wait, in a few more years he'll be asking us to pay them as one of our warm up games.

The ways scheduling works, if they get something done the first game in the series will be somewhere around 2035.

If Stricklin does this deal, I hope he stipulates that UCF must remove all mentioning of their "National Championship" permanently as it's just embarrassing to see and we won't face a team claiming such an outlandish thing.

It’s basic economics. Why should we sacrifice a penny to play them? It’s not in our financial best interest to give them a game at their Mickey Mouse bounce house stadium or whatever they call it when the game can make a crap ton more money being at the larger stadium. The SEC doesn’t play games in 40,000 seat stadiums. Like someone else said even offer ucf the lion’s share of the tickets to sell. Ucf has too much pride to take the more than generous money they would get coming to The Swamp for a couple of ass whoopings and then the money from a spanking at a neutral site (Orlando) game in a larger stadium. They would literally be burning money by insisting they host a home game. Dumba$$es!

I'd hope that we wouldn't even bother. UCF means nothing to me. If we're going to schedule another P5 in-state program, it should be Miami or nobody.

I was thinking the same thing. However, Vandy is an SEC school so we have to play them. Signing up for a money loser at UCF's stadium is optional, and it makes no sense for us to exercise that option.

I had to chuckle over White's comments about how "flattered" he was that the big boys were "afraid" to play UCF,
What a load of rubbish. The only thing they are afraid of is losing a pile of money playing in their stadium.

Read claygator’s response below yours. We make a ton of money playing an SEC schedule. We literally take money (and theirs..stubborn asses) out of our pockets by giving into their demand.

That is a pretty rich statement, right?! I wonder how FSU, Miami and USF feel about that comment. :)

I think for White this is much more about image and public perception than money. UCF would look like a more legitimate program having a team like UF come into their home stadium, even if there ends up being a lot of Gator fans. UCF would control the ticket distribution and ensure it's a predominantly UCF fanbase.

While a game at Camping World would be more lucrative, I presume the city of Orlando would control ticket distribution and would probably give each school maybe 15K tickets to distribute and the city would sell the rest. It more than likely it ends up being a 60-40 or higher UF fanbase. Even in Orlando, that becomes a Gator home game.

I totally understand why White wants the game at their stadium. But I don't think UF has any real motivation to do any of this on UCF's terms.
