The year is 2017. The season has just concluded.

UF has just come off a 4 win season and 5th loss to rival Florida State.

UF has dipped to a 38ish Blue Chip roster percentage.

FSU is featuring the *4th most talented roster in the country. *

    Fast Forward to 2020:

Back to Back blowout wins over FSU and double digit win seasons.

UF sitting at 63% Blue Chip roster percentage (top 10 roster in the country) Dark horse playoff contender.

FSU on their second coach and rocking a 29% roster Blue Chip Ratio.

Just a friendly reminder for perspective.

The cycle of "football". It's past time for UF to rise to the top again.

Who is to blame for this rise and fall and who gets the credit, the HBC or the AD for hiring him?

IMO the ultimate responsibility rests squarely on the shoulders of the AD but most of the blame or accolades go to the HBC. Foley was fiscally competent but made poor football hires (he majored on the minor sports) and was too slow making changes when it was obvious they weren’t up to the task.

Although when Foley fired the Zooker 7 games into the 2004 season, it was considered an incredibly radical move by an AD. No one could remember firing a college head football coach in midseason before, just for losing. Now it happens more often (see: Taggart, Willie and Kiffin, Lane) but at the time it was considered to be extremely bold.

I agree he was too slow to fire Muschamp and McElwain.

He was slow to fire Muschamp, but Mac was 7-1 in the SEC in '15 and we finished '16 ranked #13. Mac was a bad hire, but there is not an AD in the universe that would fire a coach with that record in his first two years.

    This thread isn't about blame.

It's to bring attention to the reversal of fortunes and bask in the misery of our rivals.

After reading the first part of your post I threw up in my mouth a little. Thanks for following it up with some glory. Yeah. Moving in the right direction. The timing looks about perfect. Now if we could just tip toe over the patches of virus that block the stadium entrance we should be good...

    Go Gators.

Not doubting your information just interested where you were able to find the “blue chip” ratios?
