We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.

On this day exactly 20 years ago, I left Gainesville. I'm absolutely swimming in mixed emotions today (albeit that as a San Jose Sharks fan, I'm also very upbeat! WOO!).
You know, I enjoyed every second of my time in Gainesville - it was life changing. Ironically I'm more orange and blue now than I ever was... such a profound effect that it continues to have on my life. My kids are away on holiday at the moment and yesterday they sent me a pic with them all Gator chomping as they found an alligator model on a crazy golf course! As I sit here typing at my PC, I see my Gators wallet and Gators watch in front of me. I'm wearing one of my many Gators tops and I see a Gators throw over the back of the sofa, proudly with the head looking out of the window to passers by. I've a Gators photo frame behind me with my family in it. I even have orange and blue flowers in the living room and a colour theme to match (and a very patient wife). It's all very poignant to think one year could have such an incredible lasting effect on my life. Of course, I really hope I'll get back one day but I accept that with various things changing the path of my life, it's looking less likely by the year. But a piece of my heart will always be there and maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to walk those streets again.
20 years... wow. Make the most of life, people. It zips by oh so fast. Have a great day guys and girls! GO GATORS!
Do friends and family there get it?
They have no choice. I've bent everyone's ear off about it for years.
Family love it because they know it's part of me. Friends do too - I recently had my 40th and work colleagues bought me some Nike Gator football boots (I coach the football team) - I was really touched!
