Fred Taylor said he took 50k from Georgia and didn’t go there. I doubt it will be the last time a team pays for hopes.

It’s different from state to state but you would hope your collective or whatever is funding the not so imaginary payroll for your team understands how the money is to change hands legally. It’s a really insulting to intelligence type of system anyway. Just write the kids a check and quit pretending it’s anything other than their paycheck.

Yes, an Alabama fan who claims he is not a fan and doesn’t follow recruiting really has the inside scoop on what FSU is doing. Sure. (Note heavy sarcasm). I wouldn’t put it last any school to do anything cash or benefits wise but anyone depositing money into bank accounts - which is the definition of a paper trail - before a kid even signs ? Yeah, right. They may certainly be dropping unmarked bills in bags that cannot be tracked. No one is leaving a paper trail BEFORE someone signs, let alone before they enroll. Would violate both NCAA regs and state laws. Even New NIL law in Mizzou doesn’t allow that and it is pretty generous pre enrollment NIL wise.

I thought hs kids could get nil? I didn’t think colleges had anything to do with it.

I have no idea if this is completely made up for attention, but I kind of doubt it. He can put whatever kind of disclaimer, but if it's completely made up, I seriously doubt he'd have mentioned FSU specifically. He's opening himself up to defamation litigation, despite his "disclaimers". I'm not sure a paper trail is exactly what it used to be. I think this kind of falls into the grey area of what NIL actually includes.

I think they need to define it somehow as reasonable compensation for an athlete providing a service (like actually being in an actual ad).

I sure am glad nobody can put a monetary value on me and I can charge whatever I want. The market determines that not a law.

Good memory. I don't think his eligibility was impacted at all, however. Was it the NCAA that rescinding his Heisman award? I thought that was a separate organization from the NCAA.

A better question is does anyone rather than the fans care?

Taking away national titles on paper I’d a weird thing to me. We saw them win it all and all they lost was what you see on google.

The big boys.ASU getting a bowl ban is probably precedence for banning us for beating Bama. Ole miss whoooed em and Freeze got stuck for what is really minor as to what Bama has been doing all along.

That’s what I’m saying but in reference to college football somehow capping the players income. While it seems rational, those laws cover all of us. If you can do it to one citizen, all others are affected by the same laws.

Maybe they can get us to support the Supreme Court capping our pay. We are a bunch of dumb sheep.

Good lord man. Next you're gonna say NFL salary caps and revenue sharing is socialism.

The point is the supreme court isn't going to cap anyone's income and this thread spun off the rails. The most likely scenario is capping what schools can spend and bring everything above board.

What's hilarious to me is people either say NIL is destroying CFB, or any limit to what players can make is fascism. There's no in between. We must shout hyperbole from opposite ends of the field in any conversation.
