I agree this incident was handled appropriately and needs no follow up. I do think the incident shows the impact of so much public demagoguery on the issue, such that he felt comfortable making that verbal assault. Of course, parent and grandparents have acted like aholes in youth sports forever and for a variety of reasons, so maybe not. But this was cruel and seems to be caused by excess societal rhetoric and moral panic on the issue

Interesting that despite his alleged offensive rants, he was apparently willing to use the preferred pronoun and concede that the child might not be a boy - but rather a trans girl. Interesting to me that he would make that distinction since many refuse to acknowledge it at all. Not sure what made him concerned other than the short haircut. Seems that the hormonal and muscular development advantages which result in the fairness concerns haven't occurred by age 9.
I think you might be giving the guy too much credit. It's just as likely he said the first thing that came to his "mind" as opposed to making a conscious pronoun choice.
Long before trans became an issue, A friend of mine’s daughter was a dominant soccer player at U8 and u10. Wore her hair short. There were some parents who would yell that she was a boy and call for a panty check. there are always a few assholes around

It's happened before although the victims have usually been adult women rather than a young girl and it shouldn't be that surprising with the way politicians are trying to capitalize on transphobia.
