Oklahoma is one of those places I was prepared not to like but ended up liking. Though a Florida boy, I nearly moved to OKC before settling on Charlotte a few years ago.

I suspect the state’s large Native American demographic drags down the metrics in surveys like this.

Nevertheless, I hold that affordability is the new hip.

Except for the summer months when temperatures continue to rise and the rain drops fall, Florida is a great place to live. Unfortunately, I guess the negative is because of the many positives we have, more people continue to flood into the state but again, you can’t really blame them.

As always this depends on the criteria important to the people doing the ranking

Yes, to be taken with a grain of salt.

Growing up in Florida I don’t remember complaining much about the heat, possibly because it was expected and you just stay indoors as much as you could.

Or you were accustomed to it and didn’t know there were other options

That’s my experience having lived in Florida for all but the 2 years spent in Irvine, CA. However, the last 3 years have been much tougher for me, especially when cycling or doing yard work.

We sold out and moved to north Georgia. Still warm but not oppressive like Florida. Miss the Atlantic and Gulf but finding some nice rivers.

Oh, I knew there were other options. Distinct seasons was a major reason why I finally moved north, although I’ll always miss my Florida.

Ironically, it’s 98 in Charlotte now and 85 in Cocoa Beach where I last lived in Florida.

True, there is more respite from the heat where I am now, but I must be getting old because winter here, though mild compared to much of the U.S., is painful to the bones sometimes.

I’m sure this winter will be quite an experience for me.
