The problem is the right wing’s interests largely *is* bigotry/culture war nonsense. It isn’t protecting the sanctity of women’s sports. To be fair a few have legitimate interest in women’s sports, the vast majority do not. Hell just a few posts up a poster suggested eliminating women’s sports entirely!

WGB’s point (I think) is that their position comes from a place of bigotry, but when it comes to sports they stumbled upon a winning/correct position as far as fairness. Thats why this stuff is like catnip when they have one of these extreme examples. Same situation as an immigrant committing a crime, and you see they use that for their anti-immigration agenda. They can use the individual to demonize the larger group (bigotry 101). They are correct on this one only in the narrow context of sports, not with the attempts at broader demonization.

It really doesn’t matter the motivation. For some it is bigotry, for others it is legitimately bothersome for reasons other than bigotry. Sometimes bigots can be on the right side of an issue.

Yeah, I agree with you- those in charge of Democratic Party messaging should improve on this issue.

The rest of us should just be sure to offer nothing but scorn and derision to hypocrites who tolerate and enable immorality on nearly every level ....... but then pretend to care about this.

In other words, the bigoted fake concerned people on this issue deserve as much respect as the anecdotal "immigrant did a crime" bigots do. None.

Women should compete against women in women's sports but the definition of all that should be left to the state/competitive body decisions. This is not a federal issue.
