I don't see anyone missing on this roster. I assume there will be multiple redshirts.

Kind of confirms what I heard that roster limits expand to grandfather guys

I’m going to go way out on a limb and predict that Aiden King (with good health) will be the best #2 in the country this coming season-but that’s just me…..

So Peterson still will be #1, even with a great King season. I like it.

Yep…94-95 the third day in a row from the same side isn’t exactly how you draw it up…

    Agree.

Maybe the Saturday starter can pitch them backwards as a change in style? IIRC King had decent control of breaking pitches: Serve them heat, throw them off speed stuff, come back to heat. Kind of like pitching one game but drawn out over three games.

Sounds like a guy that gets drafted high and goes straight to pro ball.

If you project to the MLB level at a position you have to go pro. Get all those high level reps at the plate early on. Pitching is a different thing. Some arms that young can take the grind of pro ball but most need a few years before that.

Wonder what role NIL may play? If a kid wants an education and can earn enough, a situation like this could be a net positive.

I think not. A position player will need the reps he can get against quality arms. You will get some in college but a lot more playing minor league ball. Your game should advance quicker.

    Pitching is a different animal.

I don’t think I disagree with you but, I know some respected baseball guys that would tell you the SEC is the best place to prep for what’s next and I’m not too sure that A ball pitching is better than the SEC. Friday night guys in SEC as good as a lot of AA ball pitchers. Gotta figure most Friday night guys in the SEC are going to be drafted very high and pitching in AA ball pretty soon or at least A ball.

I was think that they would get more reps than playing college ball.

Exactly— you’re talking about the number of reps playing the Milb 152 game schedule vs the 50+ game college schedule from a hitter’s perspective.

There’s little doubt that the SEC weekend arms aren’t the equivalent to AA arms professionally @shane4three, but Lurk’s talking about a hitter’s development.

And wood bats as well. Can't muscle balls over the infield with pitches in on the hands with a wood bat like you can with a college bat. A hitter has to learn a new way of evaluating pitches.

Has anyone been out to any of the practices yet? Are we missing anything? I saw a mention that the first scrimmage is this Friday.
