The most consistent for sure and he put up the best numbers for the year. But it could be argued that until Colby Shelton's injury, he was the best player.
Boser stayed healthy for entire season no doubt. However, Luke was really coming on and was great defensively. I would also argue that Shelton was pretty impressive as well. We will never know re Kurland and Jones.
I can agree with Boser as our top player on the squad with Shelton on par. Shelton cut down on Ks and his average soared but sacrificed HR power. The player with the highest ceiling is Lawson. I'm convinced he wore down in the last month of season (played every game) and he slumped-- but the rest between SECT and Regionals helped him. He was seeing the ball very well in Conway. I can see him as a 18-20 HR guy with .340 + average in coming years. A bit like Sterlin Thompson but with more pop.
Florida - Perfect Game Baseball Player College Commitments Here's the PG list of Gator recruits from an earlier @ocalaman post. Fits this thread.
Seems like a couple of these position players could definitely contribute next year, maybe even in the starting lineup.
Let's hope we get some position players like Lawson. We have lacked this for a few years outside of Cags and Wyatt.
Virginia loses key infielder to the Transfer Portal Might be difficult to prevent him from following O’Connor to Mississippi State but Henry Ford is THE guy to get from the portal right now.
I'm also looking at LHP Tomas Valincius, a starter with a 4.50 ERA. One of their best arms, but I haven't watched any vid yet. Past Gator wanderer Chris Arroyo 1b/LHP also ended up at Virginia and is also in the portal. He had a good year as their starting 1B hitting 290 with 11 HRs and starter as pitcher for 8 games as well. I don't think he is even an option but an interesting note. But I agree Henry Ford is the guy hitting around 350 and leading in many team batting categories.
No doubt, however I'm sure most of his guys follow him. Miss State has the best facility and fans (minus LSU) in college baseball. However you have to live in Starkville.
One of the Gator recruits is RHP Ethan Wheeler from Middleburg, FL. I wonder if he's related to former Gator pitcher (1994-1996) Danny Wheeler, also from Middleburg?
I coached at Middleburg HS and yes Danny was from there . Transferred over to Bolles . I finished there in 93 then went to Admin . Know all the Wheelers
We were living in Lake Asbury back then and I was coaching Little League. I coached a kid named Josh Wheeler. I remember a lot of the guys talking about Danny Wheeler. I think he went to Jax Bolles instead of Middleburg HS and played football & baseball.
