4.5 is what I see....not sure that is blazing fast....fast yes....but I think most of our 2022 and 2023 receivers are as fast or faster.

I remember when 10.02 was considered fast for Florida...

Demps and maybe Capel were the only two ever that fast out of high school that I can think of

Plays at the same school in Georgia that Myles Graham did. Great offer list. Nice early pickup

Capel, Demps, Harvin, I'm sure there are others I've forgotten. But I can't remember if it was SOS or UM that said there was speed and then there was football speed. I'm not sure if that was aimed at WRs and RBs as much as at the DBs and LBs and might reflect reaction time getting to the football or how fast someone is with football gear on rather than track uniforms. But this kid does look fast in his highlights. I just think we are overlooking the speed that Napier and BG have brought in over the last two years. We now need to see that speed play out on the girdiron. I want more than 5 Vs in 2024 but not sure how we are going to get them.

I wonder if the reason we have attracted the new QB commit and the PWOs is they are seeing some great receiver talent begin to show up at UF? or are they simply hoping that they get to step in if Mertz or Lagway get hurt?

Actually Demps set the High School 100 record at the Olympic trials by running 10.01. So he is the only Gator football player to run 10.02 in high school. I agree with you though track speed and football speed can be very different things.

You need improvement at each position and you start to win games.

How many years did Demps play football for us? Didn't he shut down his football career to focus on track? Were either he or Capel successful beyond UF in track or football?

UF is mich faster than the CDM era. No one can touch some of Urbs teams.

Demps played throughout college, but forego most of his potential pro career to focus on track. He made the Olympics on a relay team. He had a successful career in track, but not phenomenal.

Capel actually won a world championship in the 200. He also won the 200 in the Olympic trials. I actually expected him to do more, but a world championship is pretty respectable.

He joins 2025 running back Waltez Clark as the two recruits for that class. And Waltez Clark reminds me of an young Fred Taylor complete with Fred Taylor speed... Look at his speed in his Hudl video.

Yeah, not saying this young man is slow, just there was a time when UF was fast, like they're just different fast.
