Thats only because he hasn't tried underhand? Heard some runblings Tommy may switch to underhand free throws in the summer??
Actually...I wouldn't have thought of Canyon Barry as a Haugh comp, due to the height difference, but that's a good comparison. They play a lot alike. Except for the free throw shooting. And on that note, get CB down to Gainesville pronto. We have an emergency free throw project with Handlogten, who shot 18% this year. Scrap everything and start over, Micah. Canyon Barry is your Yoda. "Underhand your free throws you must."
I think (but do not know) that you are seeing the glass half full and your repartee'er is seeing the glass half empty. What is being implied is that you HAVE to contribute as a freshman and not just take up space on the bench. In the case of the '04s, Horford was the player with the highest floor and did well. Next was Brewer (the only McD AA) but still limited in effect. Green was about the same as the current play of Brown: getting some limited run but not really contributing. I guess you could say Brown met the definition of what was being implied. Now to Noah. He was this year's version of Mikic. He just was. Is that contributing? I guess it all depends on what the definition of "is" is. And as you alluded, Noah is the true standard of what is called the "sophomore leap". And I am not sure we will see that again. Unless we are talking about football and the parallels of Tebow and Lagway. And then I say "leap away!!!"
I would only say that Parsons had what I see as better lateral quickness. It took him a while but he became the SEC POY. That to me puts him in a special category. Not sure Haugh is POY material, unless he becomes a dead-eye shooter of the three and can blow past defenders when they try to make a run at him. But it won't hurt my feelings if he does...
You can't help but root for the guy, and I know he is just a teenager who wants to pursue basketball at the highest levels, and his persona is a normal kid and not a celebrity, but in that video, he reminds me of the giant in the Big Fish movie. He needs some serious work on his footspeed.
That is a pretty low bar you set for "pot smokers." Those in my circle were thoughtful individuals and high achievers in life. I quit pot at 42 after a "Don Juan" experience and retired from work at a young age allowing me to pursue other volunteer projects and travel the world. BD always described JN as an extremely thoughtful young man.
With the Boogie signing - are we done? There is technically one more scholarship to give (at current / old limits) CTFG said "one more" a week ago - so taking him at his word, we're done. But why not get another decent body out of the portal? Or will we give it to Olivier?
You know, I actually saw SEC POY potential in Haugh after his freshman year. I assumed it would take him to his senior year. I thought a lot of Condon too, but I figured he would be in the NBA after year 3. Both dudes ended up ahead of my schedule, where Haugh might not return for his senior year, and Condon might not even come back for his junior season. Still, I think a senior Haugh is a POY candidate. Maybe even a junior version, though the team may be too loaded for any of our guys to get in the conversation.
True, but we didn't go far in the NCAAt (lost 2nd game), but did win the SECt. Maybe I should have said "you want your freshmen to contribute" so, you are saying they might contribute?
Ok, from the portal we've replaced Aprox 31ppg from our aprox 53ppg from the guards who left (WCJ,Martin, Richards & Aberdeen). We just need 20 ish from the pool of Urban, Brown, Brown, CJ and Llyod.
But I think Tommy moves over to the 3, so we really are only losing Martin and Clayton's scoring, and replacing with Lee and Fland. Looks like a wash on the offense (except nobody has the Walter Clayton Jr clutch gene), but defensively, I think we may not be as good, certainly not as connected maybe until late in the season. I think the bigs will be better this year, and Lee will make them better with his passing.
Yes, they might. But "might" is a simpering, weak-kneed word that leaves outcomes wide-open and leaves the speaker unaccountable for anything. Monkeys might fly out of my butt, but most likely won't.
The chance of monkeys flying out of your butt is zero. Crawling out of your butt, now that’s a different story.
