now that i can agree with. Mullen did allude to that and a few of us have said the same as well; sometimes the RB’s run into a pile and dont see a whole. RB’s aren’t perfect but yes when that does happen, it can make the OL look bad

ehh Toney and Callaway were cut from the same cloth as returners; they’d frustrate to the point of almost giving you a heart attack but when they got a seam, they attacked it

Knox is perfectly fine on special teams. We cover well, snaps are efficient, we dont make mistakes.
As has been pointed out, the return game has largely been taken out of the game, and blocked kicks are generally because the kicking team screwed up.

They can all block and catch before they see the field at UF. Fumbling isn’t really much in issue either. The one at A&M was at a terrible point in the game but our guys are well rounded players.

Right on. I just hope Bowman gets the chance though. He’s just on another level talent wise than the other 3

I don’t imagine Emmitt Smith would have gotten carries as a true freshman under Knox’s system. Plays players that know playbook and block the blitz over talent. Plays all his RBs in rotation rather than the best. Another reason why Knox is not good coach or recruiter

He better learn his position. Just running ability won’t even get him close to starting.

Knox has nothing to do with the offense being what it is. In today’s game, if a rb can’t block, he won’t play. This is Mullen’s offense, not Knox’s.
And Emmit picked up blitzes quite well. The days are gone though of giving a rb 35 carry’s between the tackles as the basis of an offense.

Anyways, what’s crazy is that while 2024 seems like a long way away before Gibson will be on campus, before we know it, he’ll be a senior taking his OV. Don’t really care about his ranking because that’ll be hard to hold on for 3 straight HS seasons, all i care about is him staying healthy and committed to UF

We have who we have as our Coach and staff. Their system is the one we have. It would be nice if every other team operated by the same philosophies they do so that recruits would face the same prospects of having to learn and wait their turn even as they do here, but it is what it is. As long as our Coaches can secure guys that make their system work , and we WIN big, that’ll be all that counts. Now if they don’t, that’s another story.

Its annoying to me that other schools have success with freshman rbs and it seems like we never do. Maybe our system is too hard for freshman.

Absolutely no comparison to anything SEC teams were running in the 80's. TB was the easiest place to start as a freshman back in those days. Relatively speaking, offenses were about as complex as first and second day installs today.

Not to mention the TBs were often the best athletes on the field at that time. So much easier to just plug and play.

There aren't many programs in the country with a RB room as talented and deep as what UF possesses. I can't think of any off the top of my head. How is that an answer in the middle? This is a prime example of the glass is half full thinking when the glass runneth-over.

Emmitt didn't play until either game 3 or 4 after Miami kicked UF butt 31-4. Emmitt played early out of necessity. I watched him for 4 years at Pensacola Escambia. I was totally not surprised when UF went to bama and Emmitt put on a show.

You're probably the first one screaming bloody murder if a back blows an assignment and Trask gets hurt. Knowing the playbook and blocking are incredibly crucial....and no decent coach in the country would not take that into account when determining who sees the field. And if you think for one second Mullen isn't in agreement with Knox and that you don't understand coaching staff dynamics either.
Which backs is it you feel Knox should have been playing? Who is all this talent wasting away on the bench?
