I would expect them to be invited as a non-roster invitee for maneuvering room on rosters when they break camp.
It was talked about all year but his stuff was so much better than his ERA indicated especially the fastball. I just think it shows how much college hitters are used to heat these days that they could touch the 95+ mph which was still at that speed 80+ pitches in. If it's just straight heat (other than Paul Skenes) you're gonna get hit kids have seen this and are ready for it.
Sources: Angels' Schanuel up 40 days after draft I am sure everyone remembers him playing for FAU and hitting 3 homers in one game against UF.
Waldrep, like many of the UF pitchers this past season, had command issues and if he can fix that, he can definitely get on a fast track to the bigs. His split might have been one of the top pitches in college baseball last year but Waldrep’s struggles to command the strike zone kept from having an even better season.
Agree completely right here @stingbb. I believe that gaining control of all pitches is important however I think if he really gains confident command of his fastball with the velo he has—everything else will set itself up to give him every chance he could ask for.
I just saw Wyatt play two games (Tuesday & Wednesday) in Hickory against Rome. Tuesday he started in CF, Wednesday he was the DH. He went 0-7 with 3 strikeouts and three 3 pop ups to the 2nd baseman. He looked late on his swings like he was not seeing the ball/spin. I spoke to him after the game Wednesday, his spirit seemed good, told me he likes it in Hickory and will likely be there till their season is over. I see he went 0-4 last night with an RBI and started in LF. So far tonight he’s 1-3 with a HR, 2 RBI a walk and a K, his average is now .267
