Doesn't Mertz have two years of eligibility left? Asking becasue it took Joe Burrow two years to get great at LSU, but his first year was okay. I'll settle for that... and then Joe's second year (next year) for Mertz.

Nothing against Lagway, but we better hope things work out for Mertz and he is our starter next season. I'm sure that Napier feels that way more than anyone as his future might eventually hinge on that happening.

 

Yep. No reason to throw a true freshman out there before he’s ready. We better have better options especially at the QB position.

 

True FR QBs starting their first game on campus in the SEC are scarce. FR QBs doing that and succeeding, are very, very rare. DJ could be the exception, but it isn't wise to count on it.

 

True Dat. If one of our current QBs isn't a grade A starter next year we may have to go after another portal QB.

I hope we have the luxury of giving Lagway a year to develop. Anyone who says no way he's too good hasn't seen him handle a Uf practice much less an SEC Defense.

He already played the most True Freshman in the country last year, & several made all Freshman lists. What else does CBN have to show??? Not all true Freshman should be thrown into action when there's no need.
