A agree completely about the Gator coaches, my point was to call into question calling someone a "Schmuck" simply because of a evaluation he/she didn't agree with. How would you feel about someone arbitrarily calling you a schmuck, simply because they didn't like your work product without having any real understanding to how or what you do......or better yet not willing to specifically address beyond the from 30,000 feet point of view on what it is specifically that makes the evaluation worthy of singularly calling you a schmuck.

On it's best days recruiting services are guesstimates influenced as much by where other services rank a guy as by any real individualized analysis.

They are probably better than 10 years ago with the ability to actually pull highlights from the web and not just rank kids without seeing them, but its still as much crapshoot and marketing choices as in-depth talent analysis.

Definitely is coaches > recruiting sites.

They stay in business because people want to pay for (alleged) scoops and (alleged) insider information. The stars are to make this (alleged) insider information seem more worthwhile. People would pay for these sites even if they were wrong > 40% of the time.

Hmmm. Alabama, Florida, LSU, Georgia pay folks tens of millions of dollars to evaluate, recruit and coach players. They all thought this kid would be a great addition to their programs.

On the other hand, some "dude" who likely makes less than $50k/year and has likely never coached a down of football thinks he is a "meh" 3 star. Yes, that gets the idea across the same without the Yiddish.

Or maybe "Dude" is too gender specific and inexact for you? How about "person who is paid to analyze and rate players but has no stake in whether that rating is correct"? Guess dinging an "analyst" colloquially makes one a putz to some.... Shpirevdik.

Half the time, they don’t even know who the kid is if he isn’t a big name. They probably google a lot and go off others opinions.

Is UF looking at him (Jordan) as a CB or as a safety?

ummmm.... the recruiting services gave a rating to a recruit that somebody made up and found pictures to attach a name to. Shit was wild. I mean the power of social media I guess, but they literally gave dude a star rating and all and he never even existed. Not sure you'll see that with any coaches evaluations.

Young looks like a stud to me. Love that most of our DBs can play multiple positions.

As a post thought...All of my life, I have not been racist... in fact, growing up as a kid, I had more black friends than white friends.
(My black friends were the only ones who would play basketball with me outside in the winter with the temps down to the low 40's and mid-30's.)
But HOW in the world is the term, "Gator Bait" considered to be a racist comment? Clue me in....

Well it also demonstrates how the so called experts have a margin of error of about 400%. How does one site have a kid rated #156 in the country and another have him at #801? That's a big ass difference. Our coaches' rating is the one that counts at the end of the day.

Of the thousands of kids out there, these experts haven’t really individually rated all these kids.
