I think the premium on height has less to do with ball carrying and more to do with blocking and catching. A 200lb bowling ball is going to be really hard to bring down, but not so hard to run around.

That last statement applies to a ton of HS kids that don't get offered by UF. If the kid runs in the 4.4's bring him on though. Maybe he could take over for Toney or Copeland in the slot.

Yep, probably a bit to do with why ranking are so iffy. Prototypes are just that

Faulk has to go to SDSU because he was too little. Smaller guys slip through the cracks. Sanders to Oklahoma State. Take a flyer if a kid has that type of agility and speed, especially if it’s not in place of a top 100 lineman. Some kids are injury prone and some you just can’t hurt. It’s not always determined by size either.

UF coaches can't win for losing. Every time they sign a 3 star player it is frowned upon. If they don't look at a guy who is rated low, people here question the coaches why they have not offered.

It's fantasy sports to some at this point, so what the coaches didn't do or where they 'missed' becomes the focus. The whole shebang has become divorced from the actual games on the field in some cases.

RB and some other positions UF signs will be made or missed on how the Gators finish the ‘19 season. CDM and staff close later than most and will finish with a good class meeting needs. Hopefully the recruiting support staff is stronger and more stable and should not have as many “can’t get into UF” unpleasant surprises.

Dan’s on a different recruiting level here at UF. He will figure it all out. He may need to toughen himself up for recruiting. Winning games will help speed the process.

    Goooooo Gators!
    Whip Miami good.

I honestly don't see how some recruitniks can enjoy the games on the field after whining hard for the other 9 months of the year about recruiting. It's like who we have playing for us this year doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is who might be playing for us the next 2 or 3 years. Can't bring them much joy to follow Gator football, regardless of what happens during the actual games.

    Generalize much?

I have been a vocal critic of our recruiting (certain positions, especially) but I'm pumped to see the season start and think this year we'll be good. That said, Mullen is still largely riding with Mac recruits. Really hope we can stay in the hunt when we have a depth chart full of Mullen's guys.

So I'd turn this logic back on you. It's game day and you are going to whine about the whiners? Give me a break. Have a drink and relax.

Whatever Parrish is as far as stars go, I’ll take him all day long. Again, Malik was about 175 coming out of high school and put on a little bit of weight before he showed out his freshman year. Reminds me of Malik. It has been said kid won’t go to Miami as maybe feels he was overlooked by the hometown team. Florida, I believe could flip him.

I hope we land a kid or two and they develop into great RBs, excellent students, great NFL showcase talents. But am I wrong that the RBs left on our board are the best we can hope for because the better have committed or are leaning elsewhere?

After Saturday's game, I'm a little less impressed by our recent recruiting at RB. None of our backups seemed ready to I expected one or two backups to be ready to contribute in a significant way. The blocking was pretty bad but Mullen rarely let any of them on to the field. Great RBs usually contribute right away.
