True and also remember we'll have a "better" runner at QB next year assuming Franks leaves and Jones does win the job

I want a solid kid at RB this year. I have five I'm good with in no particular order. Smith, Bowman, Lee, Scott, Drennen.

That means he did not get the green light.

Also means Kentucky is closer to Ohio and Eddie Gran is a great recruiter

It REALLY is hard to remain optimistic on the recruiting front when you see perceived targets at positions of need all headed elsewhere.

But it usually works out in the end. I wonder how we would feel if we really knew what was going on.

I'd favor we did not green light him as being the main reason in this case. With Kentucky being closer to Ohio a close second and Eddie Gran being a great recruiter a distant third.

I realized several years ago it is best not to get caught up in recruiting. Especially before NSD. Unless of course you like stress. :)

Eddie Gran was also at Cincinnati for several years, so knows the HS coaches and kids fairly well in that State.

    On my subjective scale, signing:
    1. Bowman and EJ Smith would be incredible.
    2. Bowman would be fantastic.
    3. Smith and Lee would be great.
    4. Smith would be very good.
    5. Anything else is a major disappointment

Cant agree with 5. It's a RB. While bowman or Chaney would be great it will all work out. Especially if the unnamed RB is running behind a dumervil or Walker or parks

I am kind of Bowman or bust. I suppose if somehow Chaney split from Miami and came with us, I would be good with that. However, I am not big on Lee. Staff is not big on Scott, so that likely doesn't happen. Mecose Todd is another who likes us, but his running style is way too upright. That being said I don't know that we are in on a big time running back in 2021, so we cannot be incredibly picky.

Yea nothing has emerged yet as the big time 2021 back imo to the point where we just shut it down if we don't land Bowman.

I'm torn on Lee. I like his size and explosiveness but he doesn't appear to have great balance or agility. Even at his size, he goes down easily and tends to run east and west. He needs a lot of coaching. There was a bit of compare and contrast between Lee and Smith early on and it's night and day when it comes to fundamentals. EJ's clips could be used to teach running back technique. Not quite sure why he hasn't gained more yardage in his career or has a higher ypc average.

Seems like a lot of posters are torn on Lee. I guess we should expect excellent technique from EJ as the son of a HOFer. K Taylor had similar reports coming out of HS though sounds like EJ is a bit more athletic.

I am sure Dan has a solid plan B at RB. My narrow perception is that we are all in on Bowman and it seems that ship has sailed. I know, nothings over until NSD but you don’t wanna be caught on NSD with your happy Henry swinging in the breeze.

I trust our coach and the process and his evals but it looks like it’s gonna be a stressful ride at RB.

    Lol
