What about the fans who trash talk the fans who trash talk recruits on social media?
The sane perspective with this decommitment is refreshing. Wanne15 is right, we are not privy to why things happen or are happening. It's sad, but unless I know a recruit is actively recruiting for us (Wingo), I consider them all tentative. In the end, the coaching staff may not take them (grades, better players, etc), they may not pick us (family, location, playing time, etc), or maybe a combination of both.
Reality is a good place to be
Kids change their minds and with a season to play things will change again
Don’t fall in love till they say I do on signing day
Good luck to him he’s going to need it with Lumpy
I know there were rumblings about this before The Opening, but I wonder how much the performance from Doty vs Richardson at the event played into the decision. I know Richardson did pretty well in certain drills, but he definitely showed that he’s going to be a run-heavy quarterback (ala Tebow). Maybe as a wide receiver you see that and maybe wanting to play with a quarterback that looks more likely to pass get you the ball far more often.
Other than the stellar group of receivers that came in with Tebow in that class, didn’t we struggle to get elite receivers (and rb’s) to sign with us? Of course that also was at the end of Urban’s time here, so that had a lot to do with the drop off in talent at the position.
We can vent about this stuff on message boards. I'm not standing on any soap box. Directly attacking recruits or players on twitter or other social media is a new low in my opinion.
That sounds like a perfectly sound thought process until Lumpy is your coach. I can’t think of a single receiver that shouldn’t regret committing to one of his teams.
Possible, but that might be looking too closely for a specific and recent cause. Any kid coming in this cycle at WR would probably be more interested in what Emory has to offer than AR.
USCe hasn't exactly stacked themselves at WR, so a better chance at early PT might be a factor.
I mean.....we are talking talking about 16/17 year old kids here. Most of us were immature and indecisive then. Some of us still are 20 years later.
What can you expect? We are dealing with kids here that are pursued by manipulative older coaches and guided by older manipulative (supposed ably) friends/family members. You can't really blame them if they get all confused and overwhelmed by attention.
I'm not blaming the kids though lol.
Ultimately you have to earn respect. I can appreciate decisions, I can live with the decision, and at times I might even respect a decision.
The problem becomes when someone decommits that is goes back on their word.
I’m not respecting someone’s lack of a decision any further. I don’t care what you write on any social media site.
Mine too. I do not have to respect any decision anyone makes about a commitment only to foresake that commitment to someone else. “Hey, we just got married, but I’m going to go sleep with other women; respect my decision”. Smdh
20 years later? How about 43 years later. Lol
Oh. And I get frustrated when coaches take a kids commitment then later forces him put cuz another prospect is better. It’s a two way street. Don’t take a kids commitment unless you “really” want him. “. I know that’s simplistic. But I’m an old fart
Out. Not put.
I like Sweeney’s approach. But I admit we ain’t there yet
Give the kids a break. I'm glad I didn't marry my high school sweetheart.
From the gators perspective, bell and Joseph are good players but not needs. We need OL and DBs (mostly safeties), and should be prioritizing those positions and a few more random holes. TE and weak side DE are just about the deepest positons on the team.
For many it should be Respect my Indecision.
I hate for this to sound like sour grapes, but it really isn’t..
Bell respectfully decommitted from UF and did it in a respectful way.
Isaiah Walker decommitted from South Carolina and never told the coaching staff but went to the media first. I just think that’s wrong, no matter what team it is.
Bell is not a sure thing to South Carolina. Auburn and Oklahoma have become very interested as well.
