If that clown DeSantis wins the nomination, I'm voting D in the fall.

I think you underestimate Ron DeSantis.
He is a solid conservative, a former U S Navy JAG attorney and is gaining strength and support every day.
I believe Ron DeSantis could be our next governor.

He has no platform other than tout the extreme party line and that Trump endorses him.

And a hypocrite. He voted against relief for NY/NJ after Sandy, but then when he decided to run for Gov., voted for relief for Texas after Herman.

He has absolutely no platform that has anything to do with state government. Which might be because he hasn’t seemed to actually know much of anything about state government or any Florida issues in either debate or any other time I’ve seen him speak.

That worries me a great deal for the general, because the Democrats are going to nominate Graham, and she’ll be able to talk circles around him on pretty much everything a governor actually does.

He may well do an okay job, but combining a sort of awkward guy who isn’t a particularly good retail politician with a campaign that only talks about issues that a governor has nothing whatsoever to do with seems like a really dangerous strategy to run for governor against someone who is good at shaking hands and talking Florida.

It's like he got a fill in the blank paper to do his platform on. Absolutely no substance that a 6th grader couldn't have filled out

I’ve had my early Ballot for a couple of weeks now. It’s almost ready still undecided about a couple of items. Voting for Adam Putnam of Bartow.

  15. I don't live in FL so I can't have a dog in the hunt.

But AFAIAC, a vote for putt-putt is a vote for a rino and a win for schumer/pelousy. DeSantis all the way.

How do you figure anyone who is elected Governor of Florida is a “win” for a Senator from New York or a Representative from California? It literally has nothing to do with (or any effect on) either of them.

In any event, I’d be real interested to hear what you think the policy differences between the two are that supposedly make DeSantis “more conservative” (because he isn’t).

The main thing that troubles me about Adam Putnam is his ties to Big Sugar. The Florida Sugar Industry is blamed for the toxic algae blooms which are mucking up Lake Okeechobee and threatening to ruin beach communities on both coasts. So far Florida sugar companies and their affiliates have given Putnam’s campaign and his Florida Grown PAC $804,000 in direct contributions, a reward for a reliable ally. He’s also received $7.6 million from five political action committees that receive a significant portion of their contributions from the industry, or one out of every five dollars he has raised.

This candidate for Florida governor is the only one taking money from Big Sugar

This problem has a solution that involves the Army Corp of Engineers finishing their projects. It has been in the federal government's hands for years. As for "Big Sugar"; The sugar industry has supported the Republican candidates for years and years. The only reason Desantis has come out against the Sugar industry is because Putnam received their donations and not Desantis. If you look at the donations you will see that Desantis does not have much support from any Florida sources, all of his are from Federal sources. I don't want Washington ideas trying to fix Florida problems.

Desantis is a good American and smart man but he has shown that not only does he not have solutions to Florida problems but that he is also not even aware of some of the problems including problems in his own home county. He did not even win the endorsement of his own home Sheriff. That endorsement went to Putnam.

All Desantis has going for himself is Trump's endorsement which he is only receiving because Putnam supported Jeb Bush in the presidential election.

I wouldn't have huge qualms with Putnam if he wasn't the chosen candidate of Big Sugar in Florida. DeSantis is a Trump lackey with zero substance. Hell, his spokesman even said they weren't going to release a platform until the general. Anyone who supports that is a blind Trump partisan. The other Pubs don't seem to have a chance. None of the Dems have wowed me. Meh.
