What an unusual World Cup group. No Italy, and unusual recently, no US.

    Telemundo - RAH!

I know, I think it’s been 20 years without a USA Team. So, I’ll go with two of my Family lines, Germany and Denmark. Missing are two more Family lines in the World Cup, Latvia and Scotland. And maybe two more are England and Wales.

Espana 1-0-1. 4 pts. (with the tie in an epic 3-3 battle royale with the fighting Ronaldo's!)
    Uruguay 2-0-0. 6 pts. Advanced!
England won its opener too. Pretty good position to advance...
Mexico beat mighty Germany in upset of the tourney (so far)!

    (among other hilights).

    Great WC so far!

Three hours of running back and forth followed by penalty kicks after a fake injury. o_O

The fake injury nonsense makes it very tough to watch. Diving on the ground when someone barely touches them, screaming in agony like they’ve been shot before they even hit the ground, then flopping around on the ground like fools for a minute or two. Just brutal to watch! Iran should be permanently banned from WC competition for the ridiculous flopping they did today.

I will say this. The set-up of the game is great. 45min straight with no mind numbing commercials - a 15min break (you can leave and again not be subjected to all the stupid commercials) - then another 45min straight, again no commercials. Brilliant!

That's awesome. How was Russia like? Do you frequently make trips there?

First time there. After a lifetime of propaganda I guess I was subconsciously expecting a grey, dangerous country and cold, unapproachable people. But that was far from the case.

Moscow is green, modern, sophisticated and safe. Their downtown area around Red Square is gorgeous and quite impressive. The Russian people are warm, helpful and embrace foreigners. It’s also very cheap to eat and drink, even at nice places. Taxis are dirt cheap. The biggest challenge is English isn’t nearly as wide spoken as in other European capitals. Google Translate was a life saver. BTW, if you haven’t used Google Translate, it’s an absolute game changer.

St. Petersburg is also pretty nice but that wasn’t as unexpected as they get a lot of tourists.

    Has Mueller contacted you yet?

Jk, thanks for sharing your insights on Russia. Have always wanted to go. Have a friend visiting there now that is a big Columbian soccer fan. Look forward to hearing her stories upon return

It looked like half the population of Columbia was in that stadium on Sunday. This has been one of the better WCs so far. To my recollection there hasn't been a 0-0 draw as of yet. I like that these games are over in under 2 hours. College baseball and sometimes college football can be boring as they drag on and on into the 4 hour mark.

I like the way Belgium is playing, and they have a lot of talent. They are my pick to win it.

    Nice new perspective.
Because if you watch the dashcam videos from Russia I swear you'd be dead or very injured in no time on their streets. I swear they need a better idea for crosswalks rather then just a series of lines. Or it may be the vodka flowing through the veins of some of their drivers. Good to know.
My family members in Germany think we all walk around with AR-15s screaming hate speech at each other. I just keep telling them that we are pretty peaceful and the most outrageous shit makes the news for shock TV to get ratings.

And for those of you wondering, yes, Russian girls are gorgeous. The place is littered with hot girls. You see girls that belong in centerfold just casually riding the metro on a daily basis.

The downside, they don’t seem to age well. I saw dozens of gorgeous 20 something’s every day. I don’t think I saw one single hot 40 something.
