    2/11 Scrimmage
The Coaches shifted players around, they were short in middle infielders so McConnell played short for both sides (Pinstripes and Orange) except when it was his turn to hit then Reese moved to short, did not keep up with who went to 2nd. They also batted players out of order and put kids (Fabian, Cililao & Acton) up to bat for the opposite side just getting them another look.
    ----------------------------------------------------
    23 Leftwich pitching to Pinstripes
    -----------------
    44 Lang K
13 McConnell Dbl to left field corner
27 Nellie sharp single to center
16 Dalton 3 run Tater to rt
    22 Acton K
6 Cililao grounded to third, beat the throw, coaches ended the inning
    --------------------------------
    12 Reese K
    4 Fabian K
52 K McMullen single to ctr, #4runs, ball in the dirt moves to second
    44 BB
13 single, texas leaguer to rt
    27 single liner to ctr
    16 F 8
    --------------------------------
    22 K
    6 hard single past SS
    12 F - 8 smacked though
    4 K
    -----------------------------
    11 F 8
    52 K
    44 F 7

    4 innings 7 Ks 1 BB
    ==========================
52 K McMullen Pitching to Orange
    -----------------------------------------------
    24 Pena F 8
    15 Butler F 7
    9 Smith F 9
    ------------------------
    4 Fabian K
    5 Miozzi F 7
    24 Pena K
    -----------------------
    22 Acton Homer Left-Ctr
    15 3 U Caliliao made the play
    9 singles then steals second
    5 F 8
24 dbl to left-ctr wall out attempting to steal 3rd
    -----------------------
    15 Lined out to second
    6 F 9
    9 K
    -------------------------

they were scheduled for 5 innings but shut it down after 4, these kids and coaches are ready to play someone/anyone not on the Gator squad the Opener can't get here soon enough.

I am going to the UF v Japan SB game tomorrow so a report from me on the Tuesday scrimmage is iffy, there were 7 people in the stands tonight, no scouts, 2 students who talked and appeared to have no interest in the scrimmage, 4 family of a team player(s) and yours truly. Sully is really positive on the Frosh and how well their development is progressing. Right now I would bet on the line up I put together the other day.

That's taking the most positive stance which is better than thinking the pitching is questionable. Guess we'll get some answers soon.

    John—

I think every team that suits up and goes through the rigors of S/T is more than ready to play someone/anyone but themselves by the time opening week arrives—and what a great feeling that is!

    Let’s do this Gators!!!

Looking forward to see how Coach Sully molds this team together, to see who steps up to be leaders of this team and how the pitching staff progresses thru the year!!! The young guys have to step up if this team is to be successful this year, exciting to see how it all comes together!!!!!

The frosh have an important roles to fill if UF is to be successful and the level we have come to expect, right now they are still getting used to the better pitching, as someone said at last night's scrimmage and elsewhere they are seeing better pitching now than most of what they will see in the preconference schedule. Their fielding has been fine and the interaction between vets and newcomers has been excellent

remember not to panic early. This will be a great team in May but not so much in Feb.

the new kids are coming along & the preseason will shake out some lineup/position decisions mostly on the hitting side of the equation, I think Sully will play a light hitter in a critical fielding position but a good hitter he will hide as a DH, see what he has done, and may do again with Nellie unless his arm comes around then he would have to get a DH from what looks to be the starting OF of 44, 4, 16

I haven't been wowed by the starts of these pitchers, but they seem to settle down in practice. Offense is going to have to be strong to keep .500 through the Miami series if our pitching remains inconsistent. I'm hoping for adrenaline to play a big factor in their improvement. GO GATORS!!

    Dan Apple's note:
They’re done with scrimmages, team is off today and just a light practice tomorrow before Friday’s opening night.
