Gary Darnell as the interim coach the year before SOS takes over, and Emmitt’s last year if anyone is interested. You also get to see probably the worst QB in Gator history, but a darn good defense.

Warning: I remember listening to this game while stationed overseas and putting my fist through my locker door after leading the whole game and giving up a 25 yard TD on 4th and 11 with like 30 seconds left. It’d be nice to see one these games from the 80s where the Gators are on the winning side of things.

I was there & never want to experience that woeful offense again! I remember Donald Douglass bouncing out routes 5 yards in front of the receivers and the Whitey Jordan offense running 1&2nd downs, then attempting to throw on 3rd & 8. We seemingly sat on an insurmountable 7-3 lead ( I may have that wrong, but we were only up 4 as I recall).

I was sitting in their North end zone & seeing Reggie Slack launch that ball, following the trajectory & seeing Shane Wasdin alone in the end zone one.

be nice to Donald. He played one game for my intramural softball team when we were missing a player. Nice dude.

is this the game auburn throws a game winning td - Reggie slack over the hands of Myles? I’ll never watch that game again. Crushed me when I watched it live.

Would rather see last year's Auburn game... we Nixed their offense.

That was probably Emmitt's most heartbreaking loss at UF. If you must watch it, make sure you turn it off after about 59 and 1/2 minutes of play. Ugh.

That's the game Emmitt cried after.

Wasn't that the game their fans threw bottles at our players and I think actually hit Emmitt in the helmet?

Not sure about the bottles, but I did read about cups being thrown. In this sad after-game clip, I don't see #22 getting hit with anything. I'd bet that was the toughest loss he ever experienced as a college or pro player.

Shocking, the SEC network shows this game? wasn't an upset, wasn't really a big game...why would they show it?

Oh wait..Florida lost and Emmitt cried, that's they.

What a devastating game emotionally. From my memory, it seems some of our most difficult defeats over the years have been at the hands of Auburn. 1989, 1993, and 1994 in particular come to mind. There have of course been some gut wrenching losses to Georgia. But those three Auburn losses stand out to me.

I was there and sitting in that end zone where they threw the wining td pass. It was devastating. We have have some bad offense in recent times but none as frustrating to watch as that one. I didn’t see if Emmitt was hit with a bottle but I did see bottles thrown.

I was there also. I was so pissed that night I couldn’t sleep. I told myself I would never get so invested in a game like that ever again and I haven’t since.

I cried like a baby after that game.
If I'm not mistaken, the winning TD pass was thrown over one of our DBs who had missed practice all week due to a parents death and had fallen down on the play.
Also we went 1-6 passing for 5 yards, I believe?

All in all one of the more heart-breaking losses in Florida football history.

Oh, so it was actually a good passing night for that team I guess. :) Funny to joke about now... ...not so much back then.

I remember that night. Me and my buddies were so depressed...we took a road trip to Tampa...to the Mons...for the food!
